Pawz & Play— Your Pets are Family
We’re Pawz & Play! We offer dog & cat boarding, weekend daycare, drop in visits, dog walking, and house sitting in Winona, MN. We operate on a small-scale, only taking a maximum of 2 pups or one family’s pets at a time. Erica is an aspiring dog groomer & trainer who someday hopes to have her own facility. Ciara is working on getting her bachelors and is the primary person on drop in visits. We have two medium sized young dogs who love to play & get along great with playful pups of all ages and sizes as well as an older small dog who does great with calmer pups. All dogs are assessed for play style and comfort level before being split into play groups.

Amazing communication & pictures each day so I knew my pup was well taken care of. Will use Erica & Ciara again to help me with daily drop ins.
Good communication, and appreciated flexibility around some last minute changes to drop off and pick up timing.
At first, my cat was not comfortable with them and snarled and growled, but eventually over the three days he got to be friends with them. Each day I would receive some kind of communication from them, which I appreciated . I would use them again as cat sitters.
I experienced a hard situation with Erica and Ciara, and I write this review knowing full well that they have offered a number of good experiences to other pets and pet owners- it's why I chose them in the first place. Upon meet and greet, it seemed like a good fit. But during Yogi's supposed to be 5-day stay, he ended up with THC toxicity, a visit to the emergency vet, and was out of it for nearly 3 days. I ended up having to have my mom go and pick him up 2 days and a night early to monitor him. I'm not sure how he got ahold of anything, and Erica and Ciara don't seem to be either. But the vet confirmed that's without a doubt what it was. What I do appreciate about the situation- the pictures they sent when things were going well, the attention they gave Yogi, the urgency in communication and taking Yogi to the emergency vet in a situation that I'm sure was scary for them, too. You hope that when something scary happens, someone will treat your pet like you would. What I don't appreciate- the irresponsibility in the first place, that it was hard and scary to decipher the details from afar, that there is maybe a lack of organization and controlled environment, and that I'm hesitant to leave Yogi or use Rover again.
Ciara and Erica took great care of my two cats while I was away. I was reassured with daily updates and pictures, and it was easy to contact them. I would book again and recommend!
Erica & Ciara took great care of my boy Charlie! They were able to squeeze us in for a long day stay with short notice. Charlie seemed happy hanging with them, he even ate which is rare for him when at a Rover! I loved getting pic updates! Thank y’all!!

One of us is home the majority of the time and we incorporate your pets into our girls’ daily routine or we can do a rotation schedule if they’re not a fan of group activities.

Our fenced in back yard has a good size dog run within the fence just for pups and the rest of the yard includes the chickens & rabbits in their own runs as well as a small patio, hammocks, and garden beds. Whether in your home or ours, we are happy to serve your pets whatever food you’d like including homemade, raw, canned food, or kibble. We just ask that it be premade so we need only measure out the amount and feed your babies.

The pup yard has an insulated dog house, a raised dog bed, a sandbox, toys, a bench, kids climber, toys and open space to run & play. We also have a puppy playroom taking up the majority of our basement. It has blankets to nest in, a raised bed to cool off on, a mini picnic table to climb, and plenty of space to chase and play with other pups. If you want your dog to work on a specific trick or general training, please reach out to schedule training sessions during their stay! (No extra charge)
