As I am a current college student, my routine varies from week to week. It allows my schedule to vary and sometimes study from home and therefore allow me to provide company for pets. My main income if through my part-time waitressing gig, averaging on 2 shifts a week. I am also in a great position where if really needed I have the flexibility of trying to swap shifts with others and rearranging my working roster and therefore can try my best to accommodate for minding pets (with sufficient notice and availability). I am currently living at home and my schedule works in a way that there is someone at home majority of the time which ensures no pet will be left alone for long hours if at all!

A typical day
Activities I can provide based on dogs ability & training: 🐾Dog Park Play and Socilisation 🐾Off Leash Roaming on beach, forest or park 🐾Outdoor Play 🐾Indoor Play such as enrichment activities A typical day includes walking first thing in the morning around 6/7am, feeding breakfast, play in the garden, bit of chill time, then travel somewhere to bring on a longer walk (1-2 hours) such as the beach, park, etc. Back home and again some play time and some enrichment activities then chill a bit before feeding dinner then have some quiet and calm time and another walk nearby off leash in an enclosed space where can play fetch, allow free roamed sniffing and enjoy a bit of freedom. Everyday varies but on average each dog will get 3-4 walks a day with one lasting at least an hour. Most times when I leave the house the dogs are coming with me so they get to sniff around new places, people watch and have a nice experience out the house. If sociable I will bring to the ballincollig dog park where they can play with other dogs and socialise allowing them to have more enjoyment with the variety of their walks. All dogs love a good nap and I also make sure to provide time for some rest between walks where they can chill and I can give cuddles and build a stronger bond with them. Enrichment activities will be provided daily, varying from sniffle boxes/mats to frozen lick mats, hiding and finding food to brain stimulating games, all which promote a happy healthy brain and ensures them to be stimulated mentally as-well as physically.

Hey, my name is Emma, and I’m a 21-year-old college student with a lifelong love for animals and aim to work with animals in my future particularly in animal welfare, conservation and behaviour. I’ve grown up around dogs, cats and horses, and love being surrounded by animals and ensuring they're safe, happy and healthy🥰 I take pride in providing the same level of care your pet would receive at home. However, I only take vaccinated pets into my home to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all. I’ve also had the privilege of... 💚Volunteering with the Irish Guide Dogs -where I helped with basic training, socialisation, and caring for puppies in their early development stages as well as older dogs for temporary boarding which included an online learning course and in-person training. 💜Volunteering with Dogs for the Disabled -in their holiday relief role where I cared for dogs in training during a short period of time when their full time owner couldn't. 🧡Volunteering at Wildlife Rescue Centre -where I worked in the centre helping feed, clean and care for the various animals and their enclosures along with rescuing injured, sick or orphaned wildlife and bringing them to the vet/centre. 💙Cat and Dog Protection Association -where I answer calls from the public which can vary from concerns of stray cats or dogs or help with people who are looking to surrender their pet along with giving information on their trap neuter and return scheme or how they could become a fosterer. ❤️Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland -I help out in their doggy training school where I supervise playtime, help with co-operative training, feeding, walking and just ensuring the dogs enjoy their day at school and all their needs are met. Each experience was an incredibly rewarding that offered the different opportunities which deepened my understanding of canine behaviour, managing and supporting wildlife and the importance of consistency, patience, and trust when working with all temperaments and different species.
