A typical weekday for me is feeding my own pets when I wake up, and then taking my dog for a quick bathroom outside before I head out for my first regular dog walk of the day at 8:30. When I get home, I will typically take my own dog for a longer trail walk, or a walk through downtown where we like to stop in at a coffee shop. Spring through Fall I work as a gardener/landscaper, and typically will head straight to work for the day. A few days out of the week, I come home and grab my dog before another regular dog walk that she joins me on. Winter is off season for me, where I find whatever “winter job” works for me, alongside opening my Rover schedule for many more dogs!

The care I provide for your pets in your home is completely based off of you and your pets needs. As someone with an anxious/needy pet, I know how important it is to owners to know their pets are feeling as safe and secure as possible when you are away. Whether it is something more simple like making sure they are settled into a crate properly when home alone, or making sure they have their favourite stuffy or toy, I strive to make sure your pets are as comfortable as possible while you are away! Pets are smarter than we give them credit for as well! There have been many times where your pets show me where their favourite things are kept, or where they like to go on walks (I have been led straight to the pet store for treats more than once)!
Information Emma L. would like to know about your pet
I always like to meet your pets with you first so we can all decide if we are a good fit. It’s important I know your dogs quirks and behaviours when on walks, such as if they get spooked by any noises or anything else, if they are reactive towards any other types of dogs or people, any signs you have noticed in your pet before they lunge or snap, and anything else you think would be important. I would like to know if they have a certain type of leash/collar and how it works incase I haven’t used that type before. Any obedience commands they know that might be different from typical ones (some people use a clicker instead of treats, etc). Lastly, incase anything were to happen I always make sure to ask what vet you take them to, if your vet is 24 hour and offers emergency services, & if you haven’t already, to make sure you add it into your dogs Rover profile!
A typical day
Over my time pet sitting, I have taken the dogs I walk on all kinds of wonderful adventures based on their obedience and what you as the owner allow. I have taken dogs in my car to go to on a hike on a trail on the edge of town, to the dog park to get a good play in with tons of other pets, gone downtown to a coffee shop, gone to the pet store for treats, walked down to the creek or lake for a little swim, or just played fetch in your yard. I like to sometimes bring my own dog along for the adventures after we have walked solo a few times, your dog is friendly, and I have gotten the go ahead from you!

Pet care experience
I have cared for animals since I can remember. I began fostering puppies and dogs in need at a young age with the help of my mom through PUPS Moosonee. We would care for them in home until they were healthy enough to find their forever home, and then would send them on their way. My favourite memory from this time was delivering a litter of puppies ourselves to their new families at Christmas time. I have 2 pets of my own, my wonderful dog Jupiter, a female golden retriever/ rough collie mix, and my sweet kitty Scrot who is a male sphynx cat. Jupiter is always happy to join me on my rover walks after I have walked your dog solo a few times and approved it with you! Through my time on Rover I have had the pleasure of caring for dogs from tiny Chihuahuas to large Mastiffs. I take pride in my ability to care for all types of personalities, from reactiveness and aggression, playfulness, anxiousness, and hyper pullers.
