Availability

As I work in lecturing and education, I have a flexible summer break from July to September and will be travelling around the UK exploring during that time. I’m currently offering pet and house sitting in owners’ homes only, which allows pets to stay relaxed in their familiar environment and routine. I’m building my UK travel itinerary around sitting requests, so I can be flexible with locations and dates where possible. Because I’ll be staying in your home while caring for your pets, they’ll have company, consistency, and someone present to look after their daily needs, walks, feeding, play, and routine.

Safety, trust & environment

I understand how important trust is when inviting someone into your home and caring for your pets. I’m calm, reliable, respectful, and will always aim to keep your pets comfortable, safe, and settled in their usual routine while you’re away. As I’m only offering pet sitting in owners’ homes, your pets can remain in the environment they know best, which is often far less stressful for them. I’m experienced with a variety of breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including active and high energy dogs. As part of my work in education, I also hold an enhanced DBS check, which many owners find reassuring when inviting someone into their home. I’m happy to follow specific routines, feeding schedules, walking requirements, medication instructions, and any house rules you already have in place. I’ll also keep owners updated with regular messages and photos for reassurance while they’re away. My own dog, Rocket, will remain at home with my adult son whilst I explore the UK, meaning I can fully focus on the pets in my care during each sit.

Information Emma H. would like to know about your pet

I’d love to know about your pet’s usual routine, personality, likes and dislikes, walking habits, recall, feeding schedule, and any medical or behavioural needs before a sit begins. Please let me know if your dog has any anxieties, triggers, reactivity around other dogs, special dietary requirements, medication, or anything else important that helps me keep them safe, happy, and comfortable. I’m experienced with a range of breeds and temperaments, including large and high energy dogs, and I’m always happy to adapt my approach to suit the individual dog rather than expecting every pet to fit the same routine.

A typical day

I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs and adapting activities to their personality, energy levels, and routine. I especially love active and intelligent breeds and am very happy taking dogs on longer walks, countryside adventures, beach trips, and dog friendly days out where appropriate. A typical day might include walks, play, enrichment activities, cuddles, downtime, and plenty of attention and companionship. I understand that some dogs love stimulation and adventure, while others prefer calm routines and reassurance, so I always try to make sure they feel comfortable, relaxed, and happy in my care. As I’ll be caring for pets in their own homes, I also aim to keep their normal routine as consistent as possible while owners are away.

Pet care experience

**"Available For Pet Sits Across the UK Summer 2026*** Your pet is my priority. I understand that many pet parents choose to book with me because it is important to them that their pets are my only priority during each stay. That's why I never accept dog walks, drop in visits, daycare bookings, or any other pet sitting work while caring for your pet. Your pet will have my full attention throughout my time with them. If your dog/s enjoy and would benefit from long walks or hikes, I'm more than happy to take them on adventures with your permission and following your guidance on interactions with other people and dogs. Unless we've agreed otherwise in advance, they'll only ever be left for a brief trip to the local shop, usually no more than 30 minutes, although I plan ahead so this is rarely necessary. I’m a lecturer with a lifelong love of animals and over 30 years of hands on experience caring for pets. I started dog walking for neighbours and family friends when I was around 12 and have continued pet sitting and caring for animals throughout my adult life, alongside having my own dogs and cats. Growing up, I also spent every summer on my grandparents’ smallholding helping care for goats, chickens, ducks, and rabbits, which gave me an early understanding of animal routines, responsibility, and calm, consistent care. Over the years I’ve owned and cared for a variety of breeds including Labradors, Huskies, Rottweilers, Spaniels, and my current dog, Rocket, who is a Kelpie. This means I’m confident with different temperaments and energy levels, from active working breeds to dogs that simply want company, reassurance, and routine. Alongside caring for my own pets, I’ve also looked after dogs and other animals for friends and neighbours, including walks, feeding, companionship visits, overnight stays, and general pet care while owners are away. From July to September I’ll be travelling around the UK during my summer break from lecturing and am available for dog and house sitting opportunities along the way. My own dog, Rocket, will remain at home with my adult son while I travel, meaning I can fully focus on the pets in my care. As a lecturer, I’m reliable, organised, patient, and trustworthy, and I understand how important it is to know your pets and home are in safe hands. I’ll always aim to keep your pets happy, comfortable, well cared for, and settled in their usual routine while you’re away.

Our girls interacted well with Emma who arrived 15 mins before the booking keeping us appraised during the overnight booking, they obviously enjoyed the varied walks Emma took them on and were very comfortable with her when we arrived home although all visibly tired. Emma gave us a thorough debrief on the 27 hours and we will be delighted to book her again in future if available for our sometimes short notice bookings . Many thanks Emma,

Emma was so great with our Rupert! She accepted our booking super last minute and had a thorough phone call with us to understand Rupert before the sit. She was so attentive to him with lots of play as it was too hot for a walk, and sent us lots of updates with photos/videos while we were out which was so reassuring. Emma was also really considerate of our home. Definitely recommend!

Emma looked after our dog while we were away for the weekend, and we couldn't have asked for better care. She went out of her way to make sure Lola was happy and comfortable, taking her out during the day and sending us regular photo updates so we could see how happy she was. Emma's very friendly and clearly loves spending time with animals. It's obvious how much she cares about their wellbeing and she goes the extra mile to make sure they're happy and looked after. We were very impressed with the care she gave Lola and didn't hesitate to book her again for our upcoming trips.
