Safety, trust & environment

For all my clients I prefer to have guidelines set before a job. For example: how and when your pet gets fed, any medications they need, the things your pet likes, the things your pet hates, and what to do in case of emergency. I expect honesty when it comes to these things as it helps keep myself and your pet safe. Please, if your pet has trust or behavioral issues, let me know ahead of time! I'm happy to work with them so long as we stay safe together! Overnight stays I am happy to cuddle with your pet all night. I'm also happy to set alarms on my phone if your pet struggles to make it through the night without a bathroom break. I always pick up any animal waste on potty breaks or any accidents that happen in the house. If your pet loves to play, I'm absolutely delighted to get to play with them! It helps me bond with them and helps them trust me. I love playing with pets! I'm open to doing small things around the house on overnight stays as well. If your home has a washer / dryer and you let me sleep in a bed, I'll be happy to put the sheets in the wash on the way out, or I can simply bring my own bed supplies. I'm also happy to bring in the mail. I like to leave the home as it was upon arrival and am a cleanly house guest!

Information Emily W. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know ahead of time if your pets have any behavioral issues, a disability, or an illness I need to be aware of. I have no preference for breed and am of the opinion that there's no such thing as a bad dog breed. I also need to know, especially for overnights, about disaster plans in case of emergency: inclement weather, preferred preference for veterinary care, evacuation plans, etc.

A typical day

I have availability open for walking right now, home visits, and overnights, but I'll walk you through what I typically do on thirty minute visits! I first call for the pets by name so they know I have arrived. Greetings include checking the dog over for any potential signs of injury or illness, though to the dog it's just being pet. Feeding can be done before or after a bathroom break if it's in the schedule along with any medications the animal needs. If there is an accessible back yard after a bathroom break we will usually play outside. If no back yard is available, we can play inside! Winding down the visit I'll give the pup some pets and treats if allowed. During my visits I will always send pictures to confirm your pet is happy and being taken care of. I'll hand write a basic update on if the pup ( or other furry friend ) has urinated, defecated, and eaten and their overall demeanor as well!

Pet care experience

I grew up taking care of my own pets and volunteering at a farm to get experience with large animals. As an adult, that love continued, and during college I worked off leasing a horse whilst pet sitting professionally under a company brand. For a time I also volunteered at an animal shelter while I considered becoming a vet tech. I have experience with a wide variety of animals including horses, chickens, snakes, cats, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, and dogs! I also have experience caring for elderly animals both professionally and at home. ( My darling cat Princess lived until she was 21! ) That means I know how to give pills, ointments, and oral medication with a syringe. I have experience handling rescue cases and those that have been abused as well, though in that aspect I have more experience with cats. I believe in treating animals with kindness and understanding above all else. Safety and comfort is my number one priority for your pets!

Emily was great! We have a cat with anxiety about being alone for extended periods, and Emily was wonderful with him while we were away. She sent us updates with pictures every day and was even kind enough to bring in our mail. Will be rebooking her again for our next trip.

They are so so good with animals. All of the neighborhood cats eventually fall in love with them. There was one particular cat that kept escaping our neighbor's house, Smokey. He was an adorable old barn cat with FIV and convinced that was his house. Emily worked with the owners to make sure smokey was always fed and got his medicines and even discussed supliment options for when the meds weren't enough. That cat was so spoiled and so happy.

Emily is a wonderful pet sitter. She is kind and understanding with all animals. She has helped me out in the past. She is great with horses as well. She also does beautiful photography photos of the animals. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to be assured their animals are in safe hands Patricia Richman

Emily has taken care of our cats many times when we had to go out of town. I have three cats and one of them is 20 and needs a lot of attention! Emily is very good giving her the medication she needs on time whether it is in pill form or liquid medication. My elderly cat cannot take care of herself like she use to and will often need to be groomed and bathed while I'm away. Emily takes wonderful care of my old girl and young boys and I've always appreciated having someone I could trust take care of them.
