I currently attend KU as a grad student where I teach two days a week and am focused on finishing my thesis this semester. I have a fairly flexible schedule and so can maintain a consistent routine for most pets while you’re gone.

I’ve traveled a lot and been fortunate to be a guest in many people’s home. I pride myself on being respectful and leaving a house at least as good as I found it. I also try to prioritize pet comfort since I'm a guest in their home too. I try to let them lead interactions so they have a chance to warm up on their own level. I'm also happy to respect household rules and uphold the boundaries the pets are used to (ie., if they're not allowed on certain furniture). If you have any plants that need care while you're away, I love leaning into my green thumb too.

Any information you want to share about your home or pet is welcome! I'd rather be over-prepared than underprepared. Here are some questions I find especially helpful though: What does your pet’s typical day look like? Do they have any identified problem behavior you’re currently working on with them or triggers to be aware of? Do they have access to a fenced in yard? What’s their favorite way to feel loved?

If your pets like any special activities, whether it's fetch or evening walks, I try to keep their schedule as consistent as possible and keep them feeling happy and entertained so I'm happy to work their preferences into my schedule. I'm happy to brainstorm new ways of keeping them entertained too (like having them find their food, practicing tricks, or prepping lick mats/frozen treats) if it's helpful.

Grad student who loves old pets

I grew up taking care of puppies and rescues with my mom, and then moved into helping at a shelter while I was in college. As a grad student and current renter, I can’t have pets of my own so am glad to have the chance to get some cuddles in with yours. I'm happy to work with dogs of all ages and sizes and follow direction well if you are working with any training techniques. I have a soft spot for older dogs in particular and am also happy to look after any plants.

Emily takes outstanding care of our boys and our home and we are always grateful for her help!
Emily does an outstanding job taking care of our home and cats. She communicates well and I am always happy with how things are when we return.
Emily was absolutely amazing! She stayed with my doggos for a couple nights and this was the least worried I have ever been leaving our dogs while traveling. Emily communicated with me each morning/night in detail of how things were going and with such cute photos. She asked great questions also to be sure she was meeting their needs. We will absolutely be booking with Emily anytime we need to travel again without my dogs. 1000/10!! Thank you, Emily, for taking such great care of our babies!!
Emily was a great house and kitty sitter for me! She stayed a few days with kittens Lila and Sammy. Communication was excellent, with updates and photos every day. The house was immaculate when I came home. I hope Emily is available the next time I need a sitter!
