I’ve loved dogs for my whole life. I worked in a dog groomers for three years which I absolutely loved. During that time I handled, cared for, and played with dogs of all breeds, sizes and ages. I gained experience working with nervous dogs, puppies, older dogs, and dogs with health problems. It was the absolute dream job. I also have walked, dog sat, and helped socialise various friends’ dogs (including puppies and nervous rescues) over the years. I’ve always wanted a career with animals. After almost 10 years as a civil servant, and I’m now changing careers to pivot back to work with animals and follow the dream. Life’s too short.

Emily has a great affinity for animals, and seems to read their moods better than anyone else I know. She’s a natural. And she’s interested in them and they respond to her. I have known Emily for over 10 years and her passion for all creatures great and small, but dogs in particular, has been a constant during that time. Emily has always provided holiday care for a number of friends’ dogs and gets glowing reviews. I rehomed an ex-breeding dog two years ago who was extremely nervous and shut down, and Em was the one of the first people who brought him out of his shell. Her instincts, coupled with her close engagement with behaviourist advice, meant that within half an hour Teddy had gone from extremely fearful to begging Em for more pats and treats! I would trust her with my dog implicitly. Emily cares extremely deeply about our doggy friends and she would be a fantastic additions to your pets life!
Emily has always loved all animals and she always connects with them with ease. She makes a big effort to greet people’s pets and is always stopping on the streets to ask if a dog would be happy if she gave it a pat! Emily has a natural way with animals, is more than happy to pay them as much attention as they wish and puts in effort to help them learn new obedience tricks. She is even thoughtful enough to remember treats/a new toy at Christmas time or when she visits. I couldn’t recommend Emily more!
Emily looked after our sensitive dog Nala for a weekend from our home which gave Nala a great deal of comfort as well as ourselves. She provided us regular updates and took her for long walks - while maintaining our requests to leave her alone for some time each day etc. Emily’s love for dogs is evident and I would be very happy having her look after Nala again.
I have been lucky to have Emily take care of my dog Peggy many times, from when Peggy was a puppy needing a close eye kept, to now Peggy is an adult dog (4) who loves long walks and lots of attention. She has looked after Peggy over half and full days,and weekends staying in our house. Emily has taken brilliant care of her and even taught her new tricks. Emily is very responsible and understands dogs need plenty of exercise and structured as well as treats and cuddles. Peggy's adores Emily and I feel really confident that she is safe and happy im Emily's care.

Schedule
I’m currently taking a career break to pivot towards a career with animals, something which has always been ‘the one that got away’. I’m therefore very flexible and have good availability, particularly Monday - Friday during the day, with plenty of time to commit to and prioritise caring for, playing with, and exercising your pets. Some weekend and evening availability too. I will be away in June volunteering at a conservation project, but aside from that I have good availability throughout May, July, and August.
