Pet care experience

Active & conscientious animal lover

When I was younger, I asked for a dog every year at Christmas. I finally took matters into my own hands and got my first dog when I was 20, while still at university, and he (as well as his brother) is my best friend. I love long walks in nature and being surrounded by animals makes it even better. The most important thing for me in caring for animals is to be respectful and patient while ensuring all of their mental and physical needs are met. My youngest dog is nervous and, as a result, can be quite a handful. This has lead me to research dog psychology and gain a decent understanding of animal behaviour. I can cater for those that are couch potatoes, high-energy, nervous, confident, cheeky (remember I have two beagles) and everything in between!

Absolutely chuffed to bits with our experience with Emily! She is so friendly and warm, quick responses and fantastic communication. I really appreciated the updates and photos, and Emily was really flexible with me for drop off/pick up times which was a huge help. Really happy and will be booking Nelly in with Emily again, thank you so much!!

We’ve had a fantastic experience with Emily. She looked after our Olde Tyme Bulldog while we were away and it gave us real peace of mind. We especially appreciated the regular updates and photos she sent through, it was lovely to see how happy our dog was in her care. Communication was excellent throughout, and it’s clear she genuinely cares about the animals she looks after. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and attentive dog sitter. We’ll definitely be booking again!

Emily was an absolute pleasure to communicate with, coming up see Betty prior to her stay. Betty had a great time socialising with other dogs, and came back in a happy mood. Will 100% be booking again with Emily if I go on holiday ☺️

Emily is a very loving dog person, she has lots of experience with her own dogs too. Emily has assisted in walking my (reactive) Patterdale terrier on a number of occasions. I would fully trust Emily to look after my dog and allow Emily into my home to do so. Emily will truly look after and care for your dogs.

I have known Emily for a number of years and it has always been known that she has a strong love and passion for animals, this is evident from going on many dog walks with her and seeing her amazing interaction with my dog, as well as how great she understands her own dogs body language and behaviour. Emily has a natural ability with animals and she will always be seen to give all of her love and care to her pets and any animal she can!

Emily has two beagles of her own and they are her world, she’s such a caring and thoughtful person who has so much empathy with animals. She’s super responsible and organised and I would definitely recommend her as a pet caregiver.

Schedule

I work full-time on a hybrid basis between home and the office so can be fairly flexible. I am desperate to get out for walks and spend time with animals, whatever day of the week it is. I generally take my dogs on a long walk once a day - I live in the countryside with lots of different routes - but I am able to be flexible in terms of exercise requirements as I know each dog is different. My dogs get other mental stimulation daily in the house/garden, including being scatter-fed, playing with toys and chews, and training obedience.

Safety, trust & environment

The safety and happiness of animals in my care is my priority. I will always be considerate of instructions you give me as you know your pet best, and I will be sure to communicate to make sure everyone is as happy as can be. For all services that I offer, your pets will be treated as if they were my own. That said, I understand different pets have different routines and their routine and routine can be vital to allow them to feel comfortable and safe. I will work with you and your pet to understand what suits everyone best. If your pet is at my home, your pet will be provided with many different areas to relax as well as toys and other stimulation. I have an enclosed yard which provides some good sniffing spots. I can accommodate frequent toilet breaks if needed, for example younger or older dogs.

Pets

A typical day

1. Long walks in the nearby countryside - lots of good sniffing enrichment and an also space to leg it and burn some physical energy. 2. Obedience training - I have always found training dogs to be very rewarding. I am not suggesting that your pet needs extra training (or that they'll leave my house ready for Crufts) but I do find practicing basic obedience and tricks can be a good way to bond and build confidence, and tire dogs out! 3. Playing fetch. 4. Enrichment games like having them find food or a toy using their noses.

If your pets have any special needs, please let me know and we can discuss. As I have two dogs of my own and one of them is nervous, if the service you are interested in involves our pets interacting, I need to make sure that I am confident that everyone will be safe and comfortable. I am happy to do meet-and-greets and take things as slow as needed to suit individual animal's needs.
