My first word as a baby was "Margot," the name of our family dog at the time. From the time I was born, I loved and connected with animals. I lived with dogs consistently from birth until age 11. When I was 11, we added our first cat to the family at my insistence, having fallen in love with a friend's feline companion. I have lived with at least one cat ever since. I am currently cat mom to Gumdrop, an eight year old black cat with two chronic health conditions and food anxiety. I am a mature, responsible homeowner who understands the immense relief felt when the right sitter is found. My goal is to provide the same reassurance for others, while connecting with cool animal companions and kind people. I pet sit locally and internationally with Trusted Housesitters and have five star reviews. I have cared for animals for months long sublets and on WOOF farm exchanges. I care for new animals at least twice a month as a volunteer with Emerald City Pet Rescue. It feels wonderful to give back to the community, and to keep my skills honed, as I have to quickly assess and adapt to several animals' temperaments and needs on any given visit. I have been a social worker for over 20 years. I am also a Reiki provider. I keep the vibes high in my home and will do the same in yours. Animals can sense that I am attuned to energy and enjoy my calm nature and healing cuddles. As a social worker and therapist working with vulnerable populations, I undergo regular background checks and have always remained in good standing. Years of experience in these fields working with people in all stages of life from diverse backgrounds has made me observant, responsive, and attentive to the environment and needs of others. I understand and honor boundaries. I am highly ethical. I strive for effective nonviolent communication in all situations. I have excellent problem solving skills. I worked for many years as a medical social worker, visiting patients and their pets in their homes. Over the years, I got to know many animals. I understand how to make connections with and provide reassurance to animals (and people) who might be wary, protective or anxious. It would be a privilege to turn my attention to your beloved animal companions.
