Prof Trainer and Behaviorist
Hi! I’m Emily, a professional dog trainer, behaviorist, and experienced pet care provider based in Delaware. Dogs have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have more than 24 years of professional pet care experience and over 30 years of hands-on experience caring for dogs belonging to family, friends, clients, rescues, and fosters. I originally began pet sitting through Rover and later moved to Florida, where I continued building my professional experience working as a kennel technician, Certified Professional Dog Trainer, kennel supervisor, and assistant kennel manager. I also gained some veterinary-care experience and spent time working with rescue dogs and fostering. After returning home to Delaware, I built my own successful, insured dog care and training business, where I provide personalized care and training for dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, personalities, and needs. I absolutely love what I do and take the responsibility of caring for someone else’s dog very seriously. I also foster with Grass Roots Rescue and love finding ways to give back. I occasionally host fun events for my clients and their dogs that help raise money for rescue organizations—and they’re always a blast! Why I Love Caring for Dogs I’ve been a dog lover my entire life and can’t remember a time when dogs weren’t part of my world. My experiences over the years have shaped my passion for understanding, training, and caring for them. Dogs bring so much love, joy, loyalty, honesty, and companionship into our lives. Being able to spend my days caring for them, helping them feel safe and comfortable, and giving their families peace of mind is something I’m incredibly grateful to call my career. When your dog is with me, they aren’t just another reservation—they’re treated like one of my own. 🐾

Best stay ever!!! This was the first time leaving Selah and from the photos she enjoyed her stay and met new human and fur friends which allowed me to enjoy my trip. I am happy to find Selah’s new vacation home.

Daycare was a great experience! my pet was well cared for, happy, and comfortable throughout the day. The updates and photos were wonderful, and felt confident knowing my pet was getting plenty of attention and care. I would definitely book again!

Emme had the best time! I highly recommend Emily. She was responsive, professional, and clearly loves and understands dogs. We will be back!

Emily was great. The dogs looked like they were having a fabulous time and I picked them up bathed & tired! Love picking up tired & clean pups - I know they got their exercise!

This was my first time using a dog sitter and it was an absolute pressure leaving Mila with Emily and her family. We can tell she was welcomed with so much love and care during her time there.

I go out of my way to leave Peppermint here because I know she will be taken care of!

Schedule
I am a stay at home mom. Most I am gone for a day is 2-4 hours to run errands or expedite a training consultation at a clients home. Your Dog’s Stay Your dog will have their own spacious, comfortable area where they can eat, sleep, relax, and decompress throughout their stay. I follow a consistent daily routine, with dogs going outside at least five times a day for potty breaks, walks, outdoor play, enrichment, or simply some fresh air. Every dog is different, though, so I adjust their routine based on their individual needs, energy level, age, and comfort. If your dog is having difficulty settling into their designated space and would feel more comfortable with additional freedom or a different setup, I’m happy to make reasonable accommodations. My goal is for every dog to feel safe, relaxed, and as comfortable as possible while away from home. When it comes to furniture, I follow your household rules. If your dog is allowed on the couch or furniture at home, I can make exceptions so their stay feels familiar. If furniture is off-limits at home, I’ll maintain those same boundaries here. I do my best to keep your dog’s routine and expectations as consistent with home as possible, because familiarity can make being away from their family much easier. 🐾

Safety, trust & environment
About My Yard & Home My backyard is fully enclosed with a 6-foot privacy fence and includes an additional gated entry area for added security. I also have indoor and outdoor cameras to help me keep a close eye on the dogs in my care. The yard is spacious, with plenty of room to sniff, explore, play, and relax. We have lots of mature trees that provide natural shade and help keep the yard cooler during the summer months. For senior dogs, dogs with mobility limitations, or pups who simply prefer an easier entrance, I also have a large handicap-accessible ramp leading directly to my back kitchen door. If your dog enjoys the company of other dogs, carefully supervised socialization may be available based on temperament, comfort level, and compatibility. I pay close attention to body language and interactions and am happy to give you a full report on how your dog did with their new friends. We also enjoy pack walks, weather permitting, because appropriate physical and mental exercise can make a huge difference in helping dogs settle, relax, and enjoy their stay. Want your pup to head home fresh and clean? Baths and nail trims may also be available upon request. My home is a split-level home, and I have dedicated an entire level specifically to my dog care business. I have created spacious, private areas where individual dogs or families of dogs can comfortably eat meals, decompress, take breaks, and sleep in their own space. This setup allows me to safely accommodate dogs with a wide variety of needs, including dogs who do not enjoy being around other dogs, dogs who need extra personal space, or families who simply prefer that their dog not participate in group play. At the same time, care is never one-size-fits-all. If a dog is not comfortable with a particular setup, I have several options available and will make reasonable accommodations to help create the most comfortable, fun, and low-stress stay possible. Medication & Special Care I have extensive experience administering medications and am comfortable with many different types of medication schedules and routines, including oral medications, topical medications, and insulin injections when needed. Training & Certifications My professional education and experience include: * Pet CPR & First Aid * Professional Dog Trainer certification * Multiple Cesar’s Way training courses, including programs completed in Fort Lauderdale and at the Cesar’s Way ranch in California I believe experience, preparation, supervision, and understanding each individual dog are all essential parts of providing safe, dependable care. 🐾

Activities, Enrichment & Play Dogs staying with me have plenty of opportunities for exercise, enrichment, and fun throughout their stay. Walks are offered weather and schedule permitting, and I do my best to include them whenever it is safe and practical based on the needs of all the dogs in my care. I also offer one-on-one play or carefully matched group play, depending on your dog’s personality, comfort level with other dogs, and your preferences. All dog-to-dog interactions are closely supervised, and no dog is ever expected to participate in group play if it isn’t a good fit for them. With owner permission, I also love using puzzle feeders, enrichment toys, and frozen stuffed Kongs to provide mental stimulation and make downtime more enjoyable. During the warmer months, I put out multiple puppy pools so water-loving dogs can splash around and cool off on hot days. And every so often, I host fun themed events for my clients and their dogs to help raise money for the rescue organization I foster with. They’re a great way to add a little extra fun while supporting dogs in need! 🐾
