Pet care experience

"Patient and professional Pet Care

I live with two dogs of my own as part of a full multi-pet household, so daily care isn't new to me — it's routine. I have specific experience with senior dogs, including the extra patience and attentiveness that comes with mobility issues, changes in appetite, and adjusted exercise needs. I'm comfortable administering medications — pills, liquids, or topicals — and keep careful notes on dosing and timing so nothing gets missed. My apartment includes an oversized outdoor patio for fresh air and relaxing evenings, and our community also has a dog run that's always accessible for exercise and playtime. Whether your dog is a high-energy pup or a slower-moving senior, I adjust my pace and attention to what they actually need.

Emily took care of our two dogs, Ellie and Mama, and our two cats for five days of drop-in visits while we were away, and I could not have asked for a better experience. She was attentive from the first visit. She picked up on everyone's routines quickly, made sure the dogs got out and everyone was fed, and treated all four of them like her own. What I appreciated most was that I never had to ask for anything. She sent updates and photos on her own every visit, so I always knew how they were doing. That made it easy to relax and actually enjoy the trip instead of wondering what was going on at home. She also kept the place tidy the whole time, which made coming home that much nicer. If you want someone who is proactive, communicative, and clearly loves animals, book Emily. We will absolutely be using her again.

Schedule

Pet care is my full-time focus, because I don't work outside the home, my schedule is wide open — which means I can offer walks and drop-in visits at the times that actually fit your pet's routine, not squeezed into a narrow morning-or-evening window like many sitters. Mornings are typically free for early walks or first visits of the day. I have consistent availability through the afternoon for midday drop-ins, potty breaks, or a second walk if your dog needs it. And I'm just as available in the evenings for a final walk or check-in before you're home. Whether your pet needs one visit a day or several spread throughout, I have the flexibility to actually be there when it counts.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety and trust start with creating a calm, structured environment where pets can settle in and feel at home. My apartment is a full-time, attentive household — with two dogs and several cats of my own, pets who stay or visit here are never left alone for long stretches, and routines (feeding, medication, walks) are followed closely and consistently. I keep a close eye on interactions between visiting pets and my own animals to make sure everyone is comfortable, and I'm attentive to signs of stress so I can adjust the environment as needed — whether that means quiet separate space or supervised introductions. Outdoor time is always supervised, whether that's the patio, a walk, or the community dog run, and I take care to secure doors, gates, and any potential hazards throughout the home. Your pet's safety and comfort are treated with the same level of care as my own.

Pets

A typical day

Mornings typically start with a walk and breakfast routine, followed by active playtime and enrichment through the afternoon, including trips to the dog park when that's a good fit for your pet (always with your okay first). Evenings settle into a calmer pace — a final walk, quiet time on the patio, and winding down together before bed.

To make sure your pet has the smoothest, safest experience with me, it's helpful to know a few things ahead of time: any medical conditions, medications, or allergies (including exact dosing and timing), your vet's contact information, and permission to seek care in an emergency. I also like to understand your pet's temperament — how they do around other animals, whether they're comfortable at the dog park or dog run, any anxiety triggers, and whether there's a bite or resource-guarding history I should be aware of. Details on feeding schedule, portion size, and bathroom habits help me keep their routine consistent, and knowing their exercise needs and limits (especially for senior pets) lets me tailor activity level appropriately. Finally, an emergency contact besides yourself, and any comfort items or things that help them settle in, go a long way toward making their stay feel like home.
