When I'm not at school I take care of my two dogs and cats at home. Furthermore, I work part-time at a veterinary clinic at school and at home so I am constantly surrounded by animals and have exposure to many cases. I previously owned a diabetic cat and learned how to administer insulin shots and monitor her glucose levels multiple times a day.

Safety, trust & environment

I feed and water my animals in my home at least twice a day, snacks are often provided as well. I walk my dogs as much as necessary (typically twice a day). I always play with my cats and dogs. I have a kitten who loves playing fetch with toy mice and a 5 year old dog who enjoys hiking trips and swimming. The two dogs get groomed when needed but I brush them consistently in between grooms. Finally, I am responsible when it comes to my animals' health and notice any changes in behavior or appearance almost immediately. I find it important to keep them up to date with vaccines and any other medications they need.

Information Emily Grace R. would like to know about your pet

I'm pretty flexible when it comes to any conditions or issues when caring for pets, however a heads up about any medical conditions, behavioral issues, or energy levels would be greatly appreciated.

A typical day

I love being outdoors and I'm lucky enough to live in this area where there's unlimited opportunities to have some fun in the sun with my animals. A typical day trip might include a car ride to a nearby park (preferably somewhere with a river or lake), a 20-30 minute walk (sometimes longer) to initially get some energy out, and then if allowed, I'll usually take my pets off the leash and let them run around to get any remaining energy out and play with others.

Pet care experience

I'm currently a Pre-Veterinary student at University of New Hampshire and currently work at a local veterinary clinic. As a veterinary assistant I have gained experience with animal handling and care. I am also Fear Free Certified and know had to adequately prevent fear, anxiety, and stress in both cats and dogs. I have previously worked at a training facility and am familiar with certain signals and behaviors that animals demonstrate to express themselves. I have owned cats and dogs my entire life and have been exposed to many types of breeds, species, and seen interesting cases regarding animal health.

Kitties seemed to be all good and were full energy to return to chaos causing cats once we got back from our short trip!
