Pets

Safety, trust & environment

My top priorities are ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. I create a secure environment by pet-proofing the space, removing potential hazards, and making sure they have room to explore, play, and relax. Trust is key, so I build a strong bond with each pet through consistency, gentle interaction, and routine care. In a client's home, I take extra care to respect their space, keeping everything familiar for their fur babies. Whether in my home or yours, I strive to offer a loving, safe, and stress-free environment where animals feel happy, secure and cared for at all times.

Schedule

I've built a flexible and reliable pet care routine that allows me to give your pets the attention and care they deserve without disrupting my own schedule. On a daily basis, I make time for early morning walks, feeding, and playtime, ensuring that your pets start their day happy and active. I also structure my evenings to include additional walks or cuddle sessions, and I'm available for drop-in visits throughout the day as needed. On a weekly basis, I plan regular check-ins, grooming sessions, and any other specific care tasks, such as administering medications or cleaning habitats. I will be attentive to your pets' needs without the rush, ensuring they receive the best care and companionship every day.

Before caring for and walking your animal, it's important to gather specific information to ensure both their safety and comfort, as well as to provide a positive experience for everyone involved. Here’s the information I require before taking care of them: FOR DOGS: 1. Health and Medical Information - Allergies or Sensitivities: Does the dog have any allergies (e.g., to food, pollen, or other environmental factors)? - Vaccinations and Medications: Is the dog up-to-date on vaccinations? Does the dog need any medications, either regularly or during my care time? - Health Conditions: Does the dog have any pre-existing medical conditions (e.g., arthritis, heart problems) that may impact their ability to walk or play? 2. Behavioral Traits - Temperament: Is the dog generally friendly or more reserved? Do they have any anxiety or fear of certain situations (e.g., loud noises, other dogs, new people)? - Aggression: Does the dog show signs of aggression, either toward other dogs, people, or animals? - Leash Behavior: Does the dog walk well on a leash, or do they pull, lunge, or have other leash-related issues? - Command Recognition: Does the dog respond to basic commands like "sit," "stay," "heel," or "come"? Are there any specific commands the dog is familiar with or needs to follow during walks? 3. Exercise and Walking Preferences - Walking Pace and Distance: How far and how fast should you walk the dog? Some dogs love long walks, while others may only need short ones. - Time of Day: Is there a preferred time for walks, and is the dog used to any specific routine (e.g., morning walks or evening walks)? - Favorite Routes: Are there particular areas the dog loves (e.g., parks, specific streets)? Alternatively, are there areas to avoid (e.g., busy streets, places where they may get nervous)? 4. Safety and Identification - Collar/ID Tags: Does the dog wear an ID tag or have microchipping for identification in case they get lost? Ensure the collar fits well and is secure. - Emergency Contact Info: Owner’s contact details and an emergency Veterinarian’s number handy. 5. Potty and Clean-Up Protocol - Bathroom Needs: Does the dog need to stop and relieve itself during the walk, or is it on a regular schedule? Where are the waste bags for clean-up? --- FOR CATS (if you’re caring for an indoor cat or taking one outdoors in a carrier or leash): 1. Health and Medical Information - Vaccinations and Medications: Are the cat's vaccinations up-to-date? Does the cat take any medication, and when should it be administered? - Health Conditions: Does the cat have any medical issues (e.g., respiratory conditions, allergies) that could affect its activity levels or care needs? 2. Personality and Preferences - Temperament: Is the cat social and friendly, or does it tend to be shy and reserved? Does the cat have specific likes or dislikes (e.g., certain types of petting or being held)? - Behavior with Strangers: Is the cat comfortable around new people, or does it take some time to warm up? 3. Leash and Carrier Training - Outdoor Time: If the cat goes outside, is it used to a leash and harness, or do they prefer staying indoors? Some cats enjoy walking outside with a harness, while others may not tolerate it. - Transporting to a New Area: If I am taking the cat somewhere new, such as a vet visit or a new area for play, does the cat travel well in a carrier? 4. Feeding and Litter Box Care - Feeding Schedule: What are the cat’s feeding times and dietary preferences? Are there any restrictions on what I can give them? - Litter Box: Are there preferences for cleaning it and where to dispose of waste? 5. Safety and Security - Escape Risks: If the cat is allowed outdoors is the area is secure? Cats are often more prone to darting away when frightened or curious. - Emergency Contact Info: Owner's emergency contact information, as well as a Vet’s details in case of any health-related emergencies. --- General Tips for Both Dogs and Cats: 1. Comfort and Familiarity (I require a brief Meet & Greet before first booking with you) - I like to familiarize myself with the pet's environment and routines. Pets often feel most secure when their usual routines are followed. For example, if they have a favorite blanket or toy, I'll try to incorporate that into the care routine. Therefore, I do require a brief Meet & Greet before the date/dates of first requested booking. Ideally, I would meet them where your animal is most comfortable and with you, the Owner, present. 2. **Emergency Preparedness** - Understand the pet’s emergency protocol. For example, if the dog gets injured during a walk or if the cat experiences health issues, knowing who to contact and what steps to take is crucial. 3. **Respect Boundaries** - Some pets, especially cats, may have strong preferences about being touched, held, or even the areas they like to explore. Always respect these boundaries to avoid stress or anxiety. By understanding these details, you can ensure that both the dog and cat are well cared for, safe, and happy while in your care. It’s all about creating a comfortable environment and maintaining their routine!
