Pet care experience

I'll hike with your dog.

I have over twenty years experience caring for dogs (my own and other people's). I prefer for new clients to contact me at least one week in advance of their first appointment so that we have time to work out a meet and greet, and to discuss all the details of care. Some dogs like the park, others love to swim, lie in the sun, or have special needs. I've worked with dogs of all ages from puppies to geriatric, as well as dogs with specific training needs. I trim claws for owners who prefer not to do it themselves, although there is an additional fee, and I reserve this service for repeat clients. I am willing to work with owners to give dogs the care they need and expect. I love to find out what makes each dog perk up their ears, roll over, groan with delight and wag a happy tail. For the time being I work from home full time, with the goal to move to self employment full time so I can give excellent care to your dogs 24/7. I would like to meet you and your dog before booking any services to be sure that everything goes smoothly when you are away. Your dog is in good hands with me!

Emily was so helpful in meeting with me & my special-needs girl *many* times before I went abroad. She has a great instinct with fearful dogs, and by the time I dropped off my dog I was fairly confident she would be ok. I did not expect that by the end of the week, she would be snuggling with Emily's family on the couch. Highly recommend.

Emily is a professional and responsible dog sitter. When Emily first met Mia, she asked many questions about her care and behavioral preferences so that she would be prepared for any special needs that Mia may have. Mia has some separation anxiety and often does not eat well when we leave her. At Emily’s, she settled in and ate every meal - This is a real statement to Mia’s comfort level in Emily’s care. Emily’s home has a warm, family vibe and I could tell that Mia was happy staying there. Emily administered Mia’s medication and we loved receiving photos of Mia out on walks and hanging out at the house. Mia had a great time with Emily and we will most definitely call on her again when we need someone to dogsit!

Leigha had a wonderful time. She loves the walks and at the end is exhausted. Emily truely cares about the dogs in her care and Leigha looks forward to seeing her.

Leigha has a wonderful time with Emily she always looks forward to her walks with her she is compassionate and well-versed with all different size dogs. Leigha has many behavioral problems and Emily is very patient and works well with her. Leigha has and extensive trauma history. Leigha is always worn out by the end of her walk. Emilily is by far the best person that has worked with Leigha. She is trust worthy kind and compassionate. She fulfills all special request and she is a book of knowledge. Highly recommend.

Schedule

I'm currently working from home so I'll have plenty of time to snuggle with pups during the day and get them out to stretch their legs a couple times or more.

Where your pet will stay

Home characteristics

Lives in a house
Has an unfenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 1 dog, has cats
Children 6-12 years old
Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 2-4 hours

Safety, trust & environment

I have an unfenced yard, so we take lots of leash walks, or have tether time for play. The woods and field visits are followed by tick checks.

Pets

A typical day

At my house there are hay fields for fetch and snow mobile trails for running, back yard tie outs, and quiet walks on the roadside, a cool house with a comfy dog-friendly couch. Rivers and lakes for swimming are a short drive away. There are also lots of great hiking trails off the property that we might visit.

Emily can host up to 1 dog per day
I like to know the dog's triggers, for example: does the dog get excited when someone rides by on a bicycle? Is there any trauma history that I should be aware of? What are their favorite treats, games, what kind of activity level is your dog used to?
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
