Right now, I’m in a transition period before moving away for college, which means I’m home most of the time, and honestly, there’s nothing I’d rather be doing than spending that time with animals. My current job has a flexible schedule, so I plan my days around the pets I am caring for. Whether that means early morning walks, lazy midday hangouts, or winding down with a dog curled up next to me in the evening, I’m here for it. I love having animals around, it brings a purpose to my day and a kind of joy that nothing else really does. I’m present, adaptable, and genuinely happy to give your dog the time, attention, and calm companionship they deserve. :)

Safety, trust & environment

I take safety and trust very seriously when caring for your pet. I’ll send you regular photos and updates so you can see how your dog is doing, and if anything concerns me about their health or behavior, I’ll let you know immediately. I’m certified in dog CPR and Heimlich, thanks to a course I took for my role as a dog daycare attendant, so I’m prepared for emergencies. While I don’t have a yard, my apartment is right next to a huge park and Lake Michigan which is perfect for walks and playtime. Most likely, your dog will be sleeping in my bed with me (I love having them close!), but if you prefer, I’m totally happy to crate them overnight. I don’t own a crate myself, but I can buy one or bring your pup’s personal crate if you have one (I can also take any toys or treats/food you know they love). I don’t have any other dogs at home, so your dog will get my full, undivided attention in a calm, safe space where they can feel at home.

Information Emily B. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know anything important about your dog ahead of time, any allergies or sensitivities, medical needs, or behaviors I should be aware of. It’s especially helpful to know how your dog does on leash, whether they’re comfortable around other dogs in public spaces, and if they’re territorial when someone enters their home for drop-ins or walks. Every dog is different, and I want to make sure I’m respecting their boundaries and giving them the kind of care they’re used to. I’m patient, calm, and adaptable, and I’m here to make your pup feel as safe and comfortable as possible while you’re away. <3

A typical day

A typical day with me really depends on your dog’s personality and needs, but no matter what, they’ll get plenty of attention, love, and fun. We usually start the day with a walk through the big park right next to my apartment or along Lake Michigan. It’s a beautiful area and perfect for dogs who love to sniff, explore, or just enjoy being outside. If your pup is playful, we’ll spend time playing with toys, working on tricks, or doing some light training to keep them mentally engaged. If they’re more relaxed, we’ll go on slower walks and have plenty of cozy downtime together. Throughout the day, I stick closely to their routine, from feeding and potty breaks to nap time. I give them space when they need it and affection when they want it. Most evenings end with your pup curled up on the couch with me or sleeping in bed, unless you’d prefer they’re crated. Each dog is different, and I love adjusting my day to fit what makes them happiest.

Pet care experience

While I’ve only been on Rover for a few months, I’m definitely not new to animal care. I’ve been caring for dogs in a doggy daycare since I was 14, balancing pet sitting with school, work, and volunteering at a local animal shelter. Through my shelter work, I’ve helped care for dogs of all ages and temperaments, from nervous rescues to high energy pups. I also fostered a young APT-Whippet puppy named Lorax, gaining hands on experience with crate training, housebreaking, and building trust with a dog in a new environment. Over the years, I’ve only looked after a few senior dogs who needed medication and mobility support, as well as many energetic dogs who need lots of play and structure. I treat every dog like they’re my own, paying close attention to their comfort, routine, and emotional needs. My goal is always to make them feel safe, loved, and at home. When a dog is with me, they’re part of my family. 💕

Emily was really great, we ended up booking last minute but she was happy to have met before hand, if there had been time. She looked after our 3 month Samoyed puppy, she asked questions and listened to Nara’s needs and followed our schedule/rules. Nara seemed really calm and content around her. Emily took loads of photos for us and keep me up to date throughout. She was also really respectful of our home. We’ll definitely be booking again!

Emily’s fantastic. Junior felt as ease with her from the get-go. A natural with animals. Can’t praise her enough. Highly recommend Emily for your dog’s needs. ❤️

Emily did such an amazing job with Sully! She was very communicative and sent lots of pictures, and was on top of everything from the beginning (making sure she knew everything about Sully before dropping him off). Sully also got to go on a few adventures, like the dog beach! He came home very happy and excited for his next stay. We’ll definitely become regulars!
