Pet care experience

Former VetTech & Special Needs Care

I’ve spent 17 years caring for other people’s pets, beginning with pet sitting at age 16 and later working as a veterinary technician and horse farm manager. I genuinely love getting to know each animal’s personality and helping them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their family is away. I’m confident with dogs of every size and age—from playful puppies and giant breeds to seniors, anxious dogs, and pets with special needs. Whether your dog enjoys an active walk, enthusiastic playtime, enrichment, lots of affection, or quiet companionship, I’ll tailor each visit to what makes them happiest. My experience with cats, dogs, horses, and other farm animals has made me calm, patient, and attentive to body language, even with large or nervous animals. I cared for my own senior dog through arthritis, hip problems, and renal failure, and I now share my life with a tripawd dog with anxiety. I understand the patience and creativity sometimes needed to support mobility, comfort, medications, supplements, specialized diets, and changing routines. I’m also comfortable administering veterinarian-prescribed oral, topical, and intramuscular medications and subcutaneous fluids. I’ll care for your pet with the same attentiveness and affection I give my own, follow your instructions carefully, and keep you connected through thoughtful updates and plenty of photos.

Safety, trust & environment

For drop-in visits, I care for pets in the comfort of their own home, where familiar surroundings and routines can help them feel secure. I follow each family’s instructions closely, including feeding, fresh water, medications, walks or potty breaks, playtime, enrichment, litter-box care, and any household details you would like handled. Safety begins with learning about your pet’s routine, temperament, medical needs, triggers, equipment, and emergency contacts. Before walks, I check collars, harnesses, and leashes for a secure fit, and I remain attentive to body language and our surroundings. I never force interaction with a nervous pet and allow trust to develop at their pace. I take care when entering and leaving, confirm that doors and gates are secured, clean up after your pet, and make sure they are comfortable before I go. After every visit, I’ll send a thoughtful update with photos and let you know about eating, drinking, bathroom habits, behavior, medications, or anything unusual I notice.

Emilia is an experienced, reliable and kind pet caregiver. In addition to having taken care of her own horses and dogs for nearly two decades, she has gained significant knowledge and hands-on experience working as a vet tech and an equestrian facility barn manager. Emilia has a keen eye for observation noticing even minute physical and/or behavioral changes that are so important in keeping pets healthy and happy. She builds strong trust-based relationships with the animals ir her care as well as their owners. Her exceptional interpersonal skills, reliability and ability to handle difficult situations calmly and with utmost professionalism make her a great care giver for anyone's pet.

I have personally seen Emilia’s experience, reliability, and compassion with animals for many years. For four years, she helped care for my four dogs, including pit bulls and pit bull–Rottweiler mixes. She confidently managed several large, strong dogs while treating each one with patience and affection. When one of my dogs suffered a cruciate ligament injury and reacted to the pain by growling and attempting to bite when touched, Emilia remained calm. She carefully read his body language, avoided escalating his fear, and prioritized both his comfort and everyone’s safety. Her veterinary knowledge and judgment were invaluable when he was frightened and hurting. I have also watched Emilia care for her senior dog through arthritis, hip problems, renal failure, medications, specialized food, and subcutaneous fluids. She now provides the same thoughtful care to our tripawd dog, including adapting her routine for mobility needs and separation anxiety. Emilia has cared for clients’ dogs while their families traveled, and I have seen how seriously she follows every animal’s routine and instructions. She also spent years managing horses and barn cats and consistently honored those responsibilities—even when their care fell on holidays, special occasions, or times she otherwise would have spent with family. Animals have always been able to depend on her, and I would feel completely confident leaving any pet in her care.

I highly recommend Emilia as a dog walker! She is responsible, caring, trustworthy, and absolutely loves animals. I am completely comfortable trusting her with my pets and know they are in great hands! I have personally used her 3 separate times to watch both my dogs for week long trips and has always been punctual, and communicative. No better person to trust your pups with!

Schedule

Pet care is already a natural part of my everyday routine. I care for my own tripawd dog, including regular walks, feeding, enrichment, and the extra patience needed for her mobility and anxiety. I enjoy building my day around animals and understand how important consistency is to their comfort. I offer drop-in visits during daytime and evening hours throughout the week, including weekends. I keep my Rover calendar current and accept only the visits I can complete reliably, so your pet receives my full attention and care at the time we’ve arranged.
