My relationship with dogs had a slightly questionable start. I was attacked by a dog while sitting in a stroller as a baby and spent the first few years of my life absolutely terrified of them. Then something apparently flipped in my five-year-old brain, because I spent the next year relentlessly begging my parents to let me get one. Eventually they cracked. Enter Prinsen (Swedish for “Prince”) and I've been a dog person ever since. I grew up with dogs and was the kid neighbors would ask to watch theirs. Then during COVID my parents got an AmStaff who somehow turned into a part-time job for me 😂. I lived nearby and watched him basically every day for about five years. Walks, feeding, playtime, hanging out, keeping him out of trouble, the whole deal. Spending that much time with an AmStaff also made me very comfortable around bigger, strong and energetic dogs. These days I have Maverick, my 9-month-old hunting Labrador, who has taken the phrase “high energy” as a personal challenge. Long walks, training, exercise, stubborn puppy moments, random objects appearing in his mouth and trying to tire out a dog with a seemingly unlimited battery are just normal life now. Being a dog owner myself is probably the biggest reason I'd trust me with your dog. I know how weird it feels handing your best buddy to someone you've never met. I'm not interested in speed-running a 30-minute visit, checking a box and leaving. If your dog is with me, I'm actually going to hang out with them, play with them, walk them and treat them the way I'd want someone to treat Maverick. I'm especially comfortable with puppies, bigger breeds, working dogs and dogs with a ridiculous amount of energy.
