Safety, trust & environment

There are many ways in which we care for our pets. Small animals need their cages spot cleaned or full cleaned, food and water, enrichment and affection. Exotic animals have very specific requirements, temperature and humidity control, live feeding of invertebrates, and supplements. Cats and dogs need companionship, exercise, and enrichment. My experience and education have prepared me for carrying out all the above and much more. Keeping the environment clean and tidy to reduce bacteria build up and reduce the likelihood of accidents. Ensure the property is secure e.g. windows and doors locked, alarm set, no strangers entertained or allowed in to the property. Ensure the animal is being monitored and kept safe during its activities.

Information Elly W. would like to know about your pet

It is important to have background information on animals prior to care. Breed, age, gender, size/weight, food requirements/allergies, energy levels, behavioural concerns, medical issues, temperament and routine are crucial. Other information such as microchipping, neutering, and vaccinations are also important.

A typical day

Physical and mental stimulation are equally important. I like to provide blend of both and as much variety as possible. Every dog is different but in general toy, treats, training and exercise are used to satisfy each dogs individual needs. Using different types of toys: hard, soft, crunchy, squeeky. Using different food items and means of delivery: dog food, human food, snuffle mats, licky mats, puzzles. Different types of exercise: walking, running, swimming, agility. Finding which work best for individual dogs and then creating a plan to incorporate them is ideal. I love to take dogs into the woods and walking around lakes.

Pet care experience

I have been a pet owner since the age of 10, starting off with a rabbit and guinea pig. I have been working with and studying animals for 13 years. I have a degree in Zoology and a PGCE. I am a dog trainer so have a huge amount of experience with dogs of different breeds/sizes/ages/temperament. I have lots of experience working with a wide variety of species and am qualified to handle and care for aquatic, exotic, small animals, farm animals, and companion animals. I have assisted dogs in giving birth, cared for and bottle fed both newborn puppies and kittens, nursed elderly dogs with health concerns, and much more. I have a lot of experience working with dogs that suffer with separation anxiety and behavioural issues. I can carry out any training you are doing with your animal consistently and see to any medical requirements they may have.

Elly is a wonderful person and she was extremely professional when discussing the needs of my new rescue puppy. She took the time to discuss my concerns and showed me many training techniques to make his life and ours so much better. Elly has taken him on lovely walks, and has dog sat on a few evenings we’ve had plans as he currently struggles with separation anxiety. She is extremely knowledgeable and this shines through her training techniques.

I cannot recommend Elly enough, she has provided my pets (two lovely dogs) with incredible care, her kind nature and extensive knowledge and background in animals, provided me complete assurance that any pets left within her care will receive unconditional love. Elly takes the time to get to know each pets individual personality and their likes and dislikes, her fast communication and professional friendly manner, completely put me at ease while my dogs were in her care.

A fantastic dog sitter. I was very anxious to leave my dog, as he is a very nervous dog, however Eleni reassured my nerves and sent me lots of updates on how my fur-baby was doing, whilst I was away. She is fantastic at communicating and did a brilliant job of looking after my dog. My dog definitely missed her when I came back. I will definitely be using her services again and hope that others do the same!

Elly has made our 2 dogs happy and relaxed in our absence on many occasions. She is qualified in animal care and is most trusted by our family to take the best care of our dogs. The dogs love her!
