Pet care experience

Compassionate, dog and cat lover :)

What sets me apart from other sitters is a combination of hands-on experience, genuine love for animals, and attention to detail in their care. I’ve grown up with both dogs and cats, and I’ve had the privilege of caring for my own senior dog who had liver issues, as well as an 18-year-old cat, so I understand the patience, gentleness, and vigilance that older pets need. I’m also experienced with administering medications, whether it’s pills, drops, or special diets, and I always make sure pets are comfortable and at ease throughout the process. In addition to pet sitting, I’ve worked in a cat café, which gave me daily experience managing multiple cats with different personalities, needs, and temperaments. From social butterflies to shy or anxious cats, I know how to read body language and give each pet the space or affection they need. And yes, I actually enjoy deep-cleaning litter trays! I believe keeping a clean and sanitary environment is key to a pet’s health and happiness. Above all, I truly care about every animal I look after. Whether it’s cuddles on the couch, structured playtime, or a quiet presence for a more reserved pet, I aim to make them feel safe, loved, and at home while you’re away.

The best sitters we've ever had. Honestly. Our dogs and cat were in such good hands and they treated our home with such respect. Such a lovely couple!

Ellie was fabulous! Good communication. Plenty of photos. Took the dog to the park for a walk and hang out. Made sure the cat was looked after. House was clean and pets were happy when I got home!

Ellie is a wonderful sitter. My husband and i booked her to stay in our home with our two little guys and after our first interaction, i felt immediately comfortable. We left for a week and received daily updates and photos. I could tell our pups were so well looked after and so was our home. She left the place in mint condition. THANK YOU ELLIE!

Ellie was so great! We needed someone fairly last minute and they came to the rescue. They were so great with our doggo - great communication before and throughout the day. Overall really happy with our experience and would definitely recommend them.

Schedule

Pet care fits naturally into my routine alongside my work as an Assistant Psychologist in the NHS. I’m available to provide care on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays, with Wednesdays being a work-from-home day, which allows me to offer consistent attention, companionship, and supervision throughout the day. I’m able to maintain regular feeding schedules, provide timely walks and potty breaks, and make sure pets get plenty of interaction and comfort. On days outside of my availability, my partner who works nights, is always home during the day and able to step in, while I’m available to cover evenings and nights. This setup means pets are rarely left alone and always have a calm, reliable presence around them. I’m attentive to changes in behaviour or routine, which is especially important for senior pets or those requiring medication. Caring for pets feels like a natural part of our daily life, not a task, just something we genuinely enjoy and take pride in doing well.

Safety, trust & environment

Whether I’m caring for pets in my own home or in a pet owner’s home, my priority is always to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved, just like they would with you. In a pet owner’s home, I do my best to keep their routine consistent, meals, walks, playtime, medication (if needed), and any other instructions are followed closely. I respect the home as if it were my own, keeping everything clean and organized, and making sure your pet feels secure in their familiar environment. I also give regular updates, photos, or messages so you always know how things are going. If I’m caring for a pet in my own home, I make sure they have a cozy, calm space to settle into and gradually introduce them to the environment so they feel at ease. I keep a structured routine, provide plenty of enrichment and affection, and adapt to their specific needs, whether they’re playful and energetic or prefer a more relaxed, quiet atmosphere. Above all, I treat every pet like family, making sure they’re well cared for, comfortable, and happy no matter where they are.

A typical day

Describe a typical day A typical day is relaxed, routine-driven, and built around the pets. Mornings start with feeds, fresh water, and walks or potty breaks, followed by chill time and company. On my work-from-home Wednesdays, pets hang out nearby while I work, with plenty of breaks for walks, play, and cuddles. Evenings are calmer with dinner, another walk or garden time, and settling in for the night. With my partner around during the day and me covering nights, pets are rarely alone. What fun activities will you do with the pets you take care of? Lots of walks, playtime, and enrichment! Think fetch, sniffy walks, puzzle toys, training games, and plenty of fuss. For cats or calmer pets, it’s interactive toys, brushing, window-watching, and lap time. I always match the fun to the pet, whether that’s high-energy play or a cosy nap buddy vibe.

I like to know a pet’s routine, personality, and any quirks, what they love, what they’re unsure about, and how they like to be handled. It’s also important to know about feeding schedules, medications, allergies, training cues, and how they get on with other pets or people. Basically, the more I know, the better I can make them feel safe, happy, and right at home
