Ellie can care for
Availability
I work part-time in four hour shifts within the range of 8AM to 4PM. I know my schedule a week in advance each Friday, so Friday evenings are the best time to ask if I'm available to check on your pets next week. If you're flexible with timing but just need me to check on your pet morning and/or evening, I can do that! My mid-day and afternoon availability varies.

Safety, trust & environment
I will spend most of my time outside of work at your house watching your pets. I clean up pet messes to the best of my ability, and I will also clean up after myself if I use your kitchen (I will bring my own food). I'm happy to water your plants or get your mail. Dogs that need walks will get walked daily as part of the house sitting at no additional charge. Higher energy dogs may be walked more often provided that I have the time or if the weather is nice. Let me know how often you would like updates on your pets. I can let you know when I arrive and leave for a house sitting.
Information Ellie M. would like to know about your pet
I love dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes! Let me know about your pet's likes, dislikes, and unique behaviors. I have a few boundaries for accepting stays to keep everyone safe. I must know about all of your pets even if you have one that doesn't need my care during a brief stay (e.g. a snake that has been fed recently). I am not comfortable letting indoor cats outside or walking dogs without a leash. I will not walk leash-reactive dogs over 60lbs because I do not have the physical strength to stop them (I am experienced with smaller leash-reactive dogs, and large well-trained dogs are fine). All new clients must have a meet and greet before booking. I understand that pets may have some bad habits; the one I would not tolerate is an adult dog that tries to bite/hurt me during the meet and greet (actually bite; I understand some dogs are mouthy). I refuse to use punitive training methods like using a shock collar on a setting higher than buzz/vibrate, or jerking a leash to punish a dog wearing a prong collar.
A typical day
House sitting covers feeding, potty breaks, giving medicine if needed, pets/brushing/affection, playtime, and walks. Let me know if your pet has a favorite toy or a favorite walk route.

Pet care experience
I've been learning to care for dogs since I was a kid. When I was about 12 years old, I was in a 4-H program called Kids n' Dogs to train the family dog. I love both dogs and cats and I recognize their differences. I will make sure your pet gets the amount of attention they need, whether they are needy or have boundaries. I have experience taking care of dogs from puppy to senior age, from Chihuahua to Great Dane. I have worked with disabled animals and animals with medical needs as well. I completed a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program in 2022, but I do not work at a vet clinic.

Thank you for caring for Mellie and being her best bud under her favorite tree.

With thanks for a great visit, Ellie…and for slowing down in the warm weather…Mellie does love her walks!

Ellie has been so great to book when we need to have someone check in on our dog Milo! She’s responsive and punctual! We highly recommend and will definitely keep booking her for when we need help!
