I work full time from my home and have a daughter who is middle school aged who loves that we get to care for different dogs since our old man dog passed away right before Memorial Day 2024. Some days I have meetings nonstop and can barely fit a walk in, other days I have time for nice long walks. (Especially beautiful weekend mornings when some dogs like to clock miles with me!)

Safety, trust & environment

My home is small but pet friendly - dogs are allowed on the furniture and can sleep with me if that's what they prefer. I have a 6 foot privacy fence for most of the yard, but the back of the yard has two stone walls (the old St. Paul stone walls that were built between the homes when the homes were built in the 1940s!) so a meet and greet in my backyard has to happen before I provide care so that you can see the backyard and we can discuss if your dog needs to be taken out on a leash even in the backyard or if I can let them out. (I usually go out with them or at least stand at the door but some dogs don't like being on a leash in a backyard!)

Information Ellen O. would like to know about your pet

Because your dog can't tell me anything, the more information communicated clearly up front the better for them! Between my daughter's activities and full time work the days fill up and go by fast, so if you tell me this I won't remember all of it but if it's written down I can refer to it if needed, which I appreciate! - Most importantly, if your dog needs to be the only dog in the house, as I also have some dogs just for the day, or if your dog does well with other dogs around (and sometimes better!) - Food / treat schedule - Special diets / meals / food prep - Any info on treats: if they can have treats I have, only the ones you bring, if it's okay if they find people food on the floor (we only eat at our dining room table and do not share people food with dogs, it's just if something hits the floor and it isn't something like a grape and your dog gets to it first - if that's okay or if we need to be vigilant for stomach/diet reasons) - Where do they usually sleep? - Do you allow your dog on furniture? - How often are they used to going out / what activity level are they used to? - Is your dog crate trained / do you provide a crate / when I leave the house do they not need a crate to feel safe? - Your pet's idiosyncrasies (so I know that their behavior is normal if it's something I'm not used to!) - Vet Contact info - Preferred Animal ER contact info (if anything happens - mine is the U of M because of my experiences there) - An emergency contact who can make decisions for your pet's medical care if you are unreachable - Any spending limits for vet / ER care

A typical day

We have a great neighborhood to walk in with lots of other dogs who walk regularly, so there's lots to sniff and learn about! The backyard is small but just the right size to run a little and relax. I have lots of toys as well for dogs who like to play with new toys.

Ellen is great with our dog, who loves to visit Ellen's place. Ellen has always been responsive, flexible, and easy to communicate with. We check Ellen's calendar before we schedule trips!

Ellen took great care of my pup while I was gone. She was very communicative and went above and beyond to understand my dog's needs and preferences. She was also very kind and flexible when my return was delayed, which I really appreciated. Great sit!

Ellen was AMAZING. She was so kind and caring and did a great job watching our pug, Yoshi! Ellen was very thoughtful and thorough for our meet and greet and I felt very comfortable having her watch our pet for the first time. We GREATLY appreciate her willingness to take Yoshi last minute! We would definitely recommend Ellen and look forward to more visits in the future!
