Availability
My days are very flexible, so can adapt to your pets' needs. I tend to work from my kitchen table with the backyard door open, so your pet can come and go as they please. I work remotely on long-term projects, except when I have the occasional evening rehearsal (which have weeks of notice that we can work around).

In terms of trust, in a past career era, I worked for both the UK and Australian national governments, so was vetted by their security clearance teams (though they clearances are not presently active as I am working for myself). This includes consistently maintaining a squeaky clean record. I have also been a nanny, babysitter and au pair for twenty years and can provide references about my character, work quality and trustworthiness from parents of both animals and humans. As a previous criminal prosecutor and frontline worker, in the unlikely case that a crisis emerges, I am extremely skilled, responsive and reliable. I will respect the safety and security of your home, your animal and your family like it's my own, and like I proved criminal cases for a living once upon a time.

A typical day
We can take long walks along the canals near my house, run around the fields on or off leash (as you instruct) or play with balls, sticks and toys in my yard. We can cuddle and fuss together in my yard, or on the couch when I work on my laptop. We can nap together, and they can sleep outside, in their bed alone in the living room or with me in my room, or maybe on my bed if they are clean, calm and you approve. I love exploring different parts of the City, so if I’m just visiting we can take your local walk or I can take pet on a little adventure to a walk or play place as you like.

Pet care experience
I am a warm, calm, professional, kind and collaborative writer, musician, yogi and lawyer. I work from my home directly on the park in Hackney, within my 6ft solid fence and no pets. So I would love to spend my time with your special fur baby. I have been formally pet sitting for 5 years. I grew up my whole life with dogs; as big as a 35kg labrador, poodle-mixes, farm and working dogs, 'bully breeds' (I prefer the term 'cuddlebugs'), small dogs, blind dogs, trauma rescues and dogs in their golden years. I have also owned, rescued and cared for many cats including older unwell cats, groups of kittens, and disabled-and-thriving cats. Unfortunately, I cannot host cats at my place right now because of my dear housemate's cat allergy. I am very active, love spending time walking and hanging out in the park, and respond to stress in animals (and humans!) with calm confidence and gentle respect. I can bathe, pick up, and administer medicine for a small extra fee and I like to start with a meet & green where possible. If you like my service, I am available for ongoing care; that way, you and your fur baby can benefit from a familiar environment, routine and maybe even learn some helpful new tricks. I can't wait to meet you.

We have two cats who do not take to people. They hide when anyone visits, and we are always anxious that they are well cared for when we are away. Ellen was a cat whisperer and our two nervous rescue cats adored her. She was responsible, gentle and completely trustworthy. The cats felt safe, we felt reassured, and everything was perfect when we got home. This has not been our experience with other pet sitters. We couldn’t be happier.
We have used Ellen 3 times now to look after our cockapoo Poppy. Poppy absolutely loves Ellen and gets so excited when she arrives. Ellen does all we ask of her when she cares for Poppy. They go for walks and get outside as well as feed and cuddle her. She had Poppy overnight and it was fantastic. I will absolutely use her again and now it's like leaving Poppy with a friend.
