I am an early riser and can take care of your pet before work and love getting out in the evenings and can swing by after work! Pet care doesn't just fit into my schedule it is part of my schedule. Especially because I have my own animals and know how it goes already. I am an active person in general so taking a dog for a walk in the evenings would be a bonus to my my normal routine. When it comes to cats, I have my own and hanging out with cats just letting them not be alone and giving them some love is what I also already do!

Before caring for a pet, I like to learn as much as possible about the pets routine and personality if I can. It’s helpful to know their schedule (feeding, exercise, etc), favorite activities, and any behaviors or quirks they might have. I also like to know if they have any medical needs or special instructions. For dogs, it’s great to know how they are on walks, how they interact with other dogs or people, and what helps them feel calm and comfortable. For cats, I like to know their favorite toys, hiding spots, and how they prefer to be approached. My goal as a pet sitter/walker is to keep their routine as normal and stress free as possible while a pet parent is away, the more I know ahead of time, the better care I can provide for your fur baby!
A typical day
I love spending real, quality time with the dogs and cats I care for. For dogs, that usually means walks around the neighborhood, plenty of time outside to explore and burn off energy, and lots of playtime with toys. I also enjoy simple games like fetch or tug, and lots of belly rubs and attention. I've been doing this with my own dog and he loves it! For cats, I spend time playing with interactive toys, laser pointers, or wand toys, and I make sure they get gentle attention and affection IF they enjoy it. I also understand that some cats prefer quiet companionship, so I’m always happy to sit with them, brush them, or just keep them company. Every pet is different, so I like to learn what they enjoy most and make sure they feel comfortable, engaged, and loved while their owners are away.

I started pet sitting for friends while I was in grad school to help with stress, now I do it because I genuinely love animals but can't have that many of my own! I've taken care of pets from goats and chickens to cats and dogs! I can administers meds to sick dogs and cats and can just give animals snuggles when needed. I also love taking photos of your fur baby and will always send updates and photos. Whether it be a long term vacation and you need a daily cat check-in or a short weekend trip I've done it all and you can trust me to do it for you!

Ellen has a natural calmness with animals, especially cats. She is patient, attentive, and respectful of their space while still giving them plenty of affection. I have asked Ellen to long term pet sit for me multiple times while on work trips and have always come home to happy cats! At this point they recognize her as a second owner. I feel completely confident leaving my cats in her care.
