During a recent backpacking trip in the Grayson Highlands, I had an experience that perfectly illustrates this: a fellow hiker’s black lab approached me with such immediate, heartfelt recognition that the owner was completely taken aback. It felt as though we were long-lost companions reuniting. She came rushing to me, whining and crying with pure joy, and when I came down to her level, she immediately laid on me, whimpering and cuddling. 🥹 This is the energy I bring to every interaction. While I began my journey as a pet sitter years ago while living in California, I am now returning to this work with a deeper perspective. For my canine friends: I am a big believer in the power of a 'sniffari.' I love taking dogs on walks where they set the pace, allowing them to explore and sniff to their heart's content.
