I currently work part-time and don’t begin my new position until June 3rd, so I have a lot of flexibility and availability throughout the week right now. My current shifts also vary, which allows me to be available during many daytime hours for walks, check-ins, daycare, or pet sitting. Going forward, I am looking for a new job with more consistent 9–5 hours, but I still plan to continue pet care because working with animals is something I genuinely enjoy. I’m used to building my schedule around pets’ needs, including feeding routines, walks, playtime, socialization, and giving them lots of attention and companionship.

I care for pets as if they were my own family members and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, loved, and well cared for at all times. Whether I’m in my home or a client’s home, I follow their normal routines as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, bathroom breaks, medications if needed, and lots of affection and attention. I also make sure pets receive plenty of enrichment, exercise, and companionship based on their individual personality and energy level. I understand how important it is for pets to feel secure while their owners are away, so I always aim to create a calm, loving, and positive environment for them.

(For example: breathing issues, injuries, or anything that may affect activity levels or require extra care.) Is your pet currently taking any medications? If so, please include the name, dosage, schedule, and how it should be administered so I can ensure everything is given correctly and on time. - Behaviour, Temperament & Comfort Level How does your pet typically respond to being cared for by someone new? Are they social right away, or do they need time to warm up? If they experience separation anxiety, please let me know what helps them feel calm and secure. Does your pet show any signs of reactivity or have known triggers? (Such as other dogs, animals, people, cars, food guarding, leash reactivity, or loud noises.) If so, I would appreciate any guidance on prevention or de-escalation for your specific pet. - Training & Communication What level of training does your pet have? Are they familiar with basic commands such as sit, stay, come, leave it, or drop it? Knowing this helps me maintain safety and consistency during walks and care. Is your pet food-motivated, toy-motivated, or both? Do they have any favourite treats, toys, or activities that help build trust and engagement? - Routine & Home Care Preferences Are there any specific routines, house rules, or care instructions you would like me to follow? I always aim to keep your pet’s routine as consistent as possible so they feel comfortable and secure. - Contact & Communication Please provide any emergency contact numbers, along with your preferred method of communication while you’re away. I will also provide regular updates so you feel informed and connected to how your pet is doing. - Final Notes If there is anything else you feel is important for me to know (no matter how small or specific) please don’t hesitate to share it. A typical day
I’m very flexible and always adjust to each pet’s personality and preferences. I’m happy to simply let them relax, receive companionship, and feel comfortable with someone nearby, or I can keep them active with things like fetch, walks, backyard play, and interactive games. If your pet enjoys specific activities or has a routine they love, I’m always open to following that. Just let me know so I can make sure they’re happy, engaged, and well cared for while you’re away.

I am passionate about supporting pet parents in my community by providing a safe, comfortable, and loving environment for your fur babies while you are away. Animals have always been a massive part of my life, and I treat every pet I care for exactly as I would treat my own. I bring a wealth of hands-on experience to every walk and drop-in. For nearly seven years, I’ve cared for my own dog, alongside my husband’s dog, and have looked after pets of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments, from playful litters of puppies to gentle giants weighing over 100 lbs. Beyond my personal experience, I spent a year volunteering at a humane society. This time allowed me to dive deep into professional dog caretaking, walking, feeding, enrichment, and socialization, especially for dogs with unique behavioral needs, anxiety, or high energy. I also currently work as an Animal Care Specialist at the Cochrane & Area Humane Society <3 I understand that every animal has an individual personality, specific boundaries, and unique preferences. Whether your pet is an energetic pup who loves to play, or a quiet, anxious soul who needs a patient, soft-spoken approach, I pride myself on respecting their pace and making them feel secure. Ella's an amazing pet caretaker. I've had her watch my dog quite a few times, as well as do drop-in visits and walks with my Australian Labradoodle. She's always made sure she has enough information about my dog to feel confident and treat him as I would (where he likes to walk, favourite toys, what type of food and treats he likes, and the amount given).
