It's always important to know about any medical conditions or needs beforehand so I can understand what your dog or cat will personally need. Of course daily routines and basic needs are a must for any pet, along with how well the dog(s) interact with people and other dogs so I can properly prepare before going out with the dog and properly take care of it. It's also important for me to know and understand how comfortable any cat in the home is with strangers so I know and understand it's boundaries, the same goes for any other exotic pets that may be included in the stay.

I love to play with the dogs I watch, we'll do tug of war, fetch, or just run around, whatever the dog wants to do/whatever we can do. I also like to walk dogs around the block, in parks, or wherever we can go nearby. Usually I walk dogs along the linear park near my house, it's always nice and pretty. Of course cats are just as important when it comes to pets, I will interact with the cat according it's comfortability with me, unless absolutely needed like medication or something. For more exotic animals it depends on the type and the animal's comfortability. For example I know some skinks may enjoy being handled, so if allowed I'd spend time holding the lizard, or maybe it's a duck that really enjoys the water, then we'd probably spend some time getting wet. As long as the pet is happy and healthy.
