In Our Home Umbra is well socialized and enjoys both big and small dogs. That said, not every dog is an instant BFF. If the vibes aren’t vibing, Umbra is great at giving space. Dogs are welcome on furniture, and we have plenty of beds, blankets, and toys. Feel free to bring your pup’s favorite items to help them feel at home. Our neighborhood is very dog-friendly! Dogs and kids often stop to say hello along our fence, and Umbra loves lounging alongside the neighbor dogs through the fence. Daycare New home + new yard + new dog = lots of excitement! When your pup arrives, weather permitting, we start with 30–60 minutes of yard time to get the zoomies out and explore. Umbra joins after some solo time for a calm intro. Once everyone’s comfortable, we head inside. For daycare, pups hangout in the back living room and kitchen; they have plenty of space to play, easy yard access, and are always within sight. Dogs can be separated anytime for space or rest. If pups don’t naturally settle by mid-day, we schedule some quiet, separated downtime. You’ll receive a detailed report plus lots of photos and videos. Daycare includes a 10-hour stay. Additional hours are available, just reach out! Boarding For short stays (4 days or less), pups get plenty of exercise and enrichment at home—tug, fetch, flirt pole fun, indoor games, and couch cuddles. Happy to reinforce training, too! For longer stays, pups join Umbra’s routine: morning walk & play, afternoon walk + scritches, big early-evening outing, evenings include toys, sniff games, or light training. You’ll get daily summaries and lots of photos/videos. House Sitting When I stay in your home, I follow your pet’s routine as closely as possible. I may be away for up to 4-hour intervals. I bring my own food and ask for just a bit of fridge space. I’ll leave your home just as I found it—clean, tidy, and cared for. Upon request, I’ll also handle mail and packages, trash day, washing bed linens, and anything else you need handled while you’re away. You’ll get daily summaries and lots of photos/videos. Dog Walking Your dog sets the vibe. Sniffy stroll? Totally fine. Power walk? Let’s go. I’m happy to help with leash training or specific commands. You’ll receive a few photos and a short walk recap. Drop-In Visits Drop-ins are fully customizable—potty breaks, meals, playtime, or check-ins. Tell me what you need, and I’ve got it covered. You’ll receive photos and a quick update after each visit.

Information Elizabeth & Nathan S. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know your pet's specific routine, needs, preferences, behaviors, or quirks. Your pup deserves to have the best possible time and to feel comfortable!

A typical day

No matter how long the visit or where we’re spending our time, your pup will get plenty of exercise and play, belly rubs, neighborhood walks, and approved outings and treats. When staying with us, dogs join Umbra’s daily routine—starting with a long morning walk and playtime, followed by midday yard time or another walk packed with scritchers (and a splash in the dog pool on hot days!). Evenings include a big outing, chill time before dinner, and wind-down activities like training, light play, or sniff games. We’re stocked with soft squeaky and crinkle toys, rope and natural rubber chews, plus puzzle toys, snuffle mats, and lick mats to keep minds engaged. If a pup needs a break or extra structure, crates and a playpen are always available for safe, comfy downtime.

Pet care experience

I’m Elizabeth and this is my baby-boy Umbra, a nearly 4yr old Australian Shepherd. I love dogs, grew up with them, and when it came to purchasing a home, thought about my future dogs first… no, seriously! We have a large, fenced yard with plenty of room for dogs to run and play. Just a block away, we have a lovely wooded area for afternoon walks. Experience - My husband Nathan and I have taken Puppy, Adolescence, and Obedience 1, 2, and 3 training through Greater Lincoln Obedience Club - I was an Assistant Instructor for Obedience 1 - Volunteer dog walker at the Capital Humane Society - I've completed Grooming courses 1 and 2 through Kenl Inn - Pet First Aid course through Kenl Inn - Pet Massage course through SCC continuing education Umbra's Story Umbra is a high-energy, working breed so we got him into dog sports! He loved Agility 1, 2, and 3 until the teeter totter became too scary. We switched over to Flyball and self-taught Dock Diving. Because of his health, we’ve swapped dog sports for trick and sniff training. To keep him active and social we frequent dog parks, Offleash Dog Bar, and dog friendly stores and restaurants. He comes with us everywhere he can, and we’ve taken vacations just for him! When Umbra was a pup, we noticed abnormalities with his eating patterns and stool. For a year, we worked closely with our vet and uncovered severe food allergies, gastroenteritis, and a vitamin deficiency. Thanks to a restricted diet including daily vitamins and probiotics his tummy is doing well! When he was neutered, hip laxity was discovered that would eventually lead to arthritic symptoms. To give him a pain free life as along as possible, we added another daily supplement, started weekly water therapy, and were instructed to administer a monthly subcutaneous shot (Nathan handles the needle). It was discovering his enlarged heart that put an end to dog sports, but he still lives a fulfilling life.

I would leave 10 Stars if I could! Elizabeth took amazing care of our three dogs and a cat! After meeting her for the first time I knew she was the person I could trust with my pets. She is professional in all respects. All the dogs reacted calmly when introduced to her. She goes above and beyond what is normally expected. My dogs are very active and require exercise and a lot of attention. Both of those conditionals were met with Elizabeth exercising them twice a day. She is trustworthy, caring, and followed our dog schedule perfectly. Elizabeth showed her ability to handle situations when ants invaded our house. We were able to rid the house of ants with the help of a neighbor and Elizabeth keeping the dogs clear of any toxic over spray. I am so thankful for her taking care of issues when they arise. Communications with Elizabeth were excellent as she was in contact everyday. Upon our return, we found our house clean and devoid of mountains of dog hair. It is so comforting to know you can leave the country and know that your pets are receiving the best care possible. I highly recommend Elizabeth for taking care of any pet.

Wonderful Experience with Elizabeth & Nathan! Elizabeth and Nathan provided an amazing doggy daycare experience for Luna. They truly opened their home to her and made her feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. She had a great time playing with their dog Umbra, and it was clear she was happy and well looked after. They were kind, communicative, and genuinely welcoming throughout the entire process. I wouldn’t hesitate to trust them with Luna again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for loving, reliable care for their dog.
