Safety, trust & environment

For families needing day care I provide care in my home to one dog at a time. I have a fully fenced yard and calm enviornment best for senior or middle-aged dogs. My dog is nine and spends most of the day napping with a few breaks for outside play with a ball or toys and a walk morning and evening. If that sounds like your dog, we'd love to meet you for day care. For families needing drop-in visits to care for their animals in their home I will spend at least 40 minutes per visit to tend to your animals' needs including a walk, if you wish. I can also pick up mail, care for plants, or other needs you have while out of town. All ages and species! For families needing dog walking only I offer a thirty minute walk in your neighborhood following your instructions as to what works best. We'll take a good sniff around and then head home. I have extensive experience teaching puppies to walk on leash. All ages welcome! For care in your home I provide trustworthy care of your home and pets. I am available to stay in your home full-time and care for all types of animals. I will take dogs on at least two walks a day and keep up training for younger dogs. I can also communicate with any home employees and keep the house in running order. You can travel worry-free knowing that your home and animals are safe and the dogs are having a great time. Additional references are available upon request.

Information Elizabeth M. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know any problem behaviors or needs that your dog has (chewing while at home alone, etc.) and any reactive tendencies you've noticed in your dog. This can help me to plan our outings and time at home appropriately. Also, it is always helpful to know what games and activities your pets enjoy so I can help them feel comfortable as quickly as possible.

A typical day

A typical drop-in visit includes arriving and playing with dogs, letting them outside to do their business, and finding out what they need: Water? Check. Any toys that need to be taken out of or put in rotation? Check. Feeding and cleaning? Check. Then it's playtime, or walk time. When I leave I'll put together a "goody package" of toys with treats to keep your dog occupied and entertained, if you would like. What does your dog like to do? For a typical dog walk I will arrive and greet, leash up your pup, and head for the neighborhood for a serious sniff (I call it reading their pee mail). We'll take a nice long walk at their preferred pace and then head back home to re-settle before I lock the door behind me. Are you coming to Monterey, but want to head to a State Park, the aquarium, or a whale watching tour and need to leave your dog behind for the day? Drop your mature or senior dog here and they can play with my 8-year-old lab in our large fenced yard and nap in our living room while you are gone. We'll go for at least one walk morning or evening.

Pet care experience

Here's what makes my pet sitting services a cut above the rest: - I have thirty years of experience as a pet parent, and pet sitter for family and friends. - I work with one family at a time for each service. So for example, your dog will be the only dog for a walk, or at my house for doggy day care. - We live within a mile of the Monterey Bay Aquarium! Drop your dog off with us and enjoy your visit. - I am retired! I m available throughout the week for walking, doggy day care, or drop-in visits. - I am a three time Guide Dog Puppy Raiser with Guide Dogs for the Blind. That means I have extensive training and experience with playful, positive reinforcement and hundreds of hours of playing with dogs. - No matter what breed or background I probably have some experience. From labs, goldens and retired racing greyhounds to chiweenies, terriers and chihuahuas, I love them all. -I also have extensive experience with horses and chickens, if you happen to have a few of them, too! I would love to get to know your four-legged family members and their unique personalities.

I would definitely recommend Elizabeth for doggie day care! She was so kind and easy to coordinate with. I loved the photos she sent throughout the day with updates while my husband and I spent the day in Monterey and at the aquarium. Will definitely book her again if we visit another time!!

Elizabeth is a super kind and easy going person! She accepted us last minute and took great care of our baby girl while we went to the aquarium. She was flexible with our time change and had no problem with us showing up early. Thank you!!!

Elizabeth has great communication and made sure Maddie was her main priority. She ensured Maddie was comfortable, took her on a walk, and had a great time. Her dog Kindle was welcoming to Maddie as well.
