My name is Eliza and I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill last fall and am now staying with my mom in Lombard. I grew up with dogs and cats and have taken care of my friend’s pets many times. I love dogs of any sizes and am able to take them on walks multiple times a day. I am able to assist in puppy training and can administer medicine by mouth to older pups or those with more needs. I have been active in "doggy day-out" programs with animal shelters and can redirect aggression towards animals and humans while on walks.

We booked with Eliza last minute on Thanksgiving day & that alone was such a lifesaver, & immediately put us at ease. She was so kind and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Her home felt warm, safe, and even her mom was there. You could immediately feel the genuine kindness and warmth they were offering, and we just knew they would be so sweet with our pups. I got photo updates throughout the visit. I’m so grateful Eliza accepted us last minute. She took such great care of our babies! Her communication is truly above and beyond. Every message and update made us feel reassured and so grateful. We would absolutely book with her again!

Calendar and availability
Schedule
I work full time, but I have a different schedule than many people. I work Tues-Saturday from 2:30pm-10:30pm. This means that I am available all day Sunday and Monday. I can also do drop-ins or walks during many people’s work days!

Safety, trust & environment
I live in a house with a big yard that is perfect for playing. However, there are three cats in my household. While they are not aggressive towards dogs and have all lived with one before, I want to keep them safe by only taking in dogs that are fine around cats. They are all inside cats, so if the pup just needs a yard to hang out in, that's just fine, and we can shut the cats in a large room with their litter box in case of emergencies. If I were to take in a cat, I would keep them separately from mine, as they are not socialized to welcome new felines. Finally, I am able to stay overnight at a clients house upon request.
Pets
A typical day
It depends on the pets' needs and temperament! For dogs, I will take them on daily walks if they are able. For those with high energy, I will take them on long walks and runs, and play with them either in a park, or their yard as long as they need. If they enjoy the dog park, I am happy to take them there too. I'd also love to take them to dog-friendly restaurants or outdoor markets if they'd enjoy it! For rainy days or times when they need to just blow off some steam, I love treat puzzles and lick-mats to work their brain! I am happy to provide a puzzle if necessary. For cats, it also truly depends on their temperament. I have one active cat, Oliver, who loves to play with me and chase his toys. My other two however, couldn't care less. They just want some pets and a lap to sit on, which I am happy to provide.
