Information Elise B. would like to know about your pet
Let me know any behavioural or health concerns, including allergies, you have with your dog. Fill me in on your pet’s favourite things and what equipment/training aids you use for walks.
A typical day
Dogs will receive a minimum of 60 minutes walking a day. I enjoy jogging with dogs and will take higher energy dogs for 5-10 km jogs if it’s something they’d enjoy. My own dogs were never particularly cuddly, so I will sop up as much or as little affection as your dog has to offer. I am experienced with desensitizing dogs to nail trimming with clippers or a dremel. My approach is always low stress handling and cooperative. Because I go at the dog’s pace, it might take multiple sessions of getting the dog comfortable with the process before I can do all the nails in 1 sitting, but I promise it’s worth the time.

Good with the weird ones!
Pet care experience
I am very experienced in all areas of dog care, having years of experience fostering dogs of all ages, including those with behavioural or mobility challenges. I have pet first aid training, and graduate-level education in canine health and cognition, along with formal training in dog behaviour modification. I offer support in desensitizing dogs who are fearful or reactive to handling/grooming using only positive reinforcement. I prioritize enrichment and meeting each dog’s physical and mental needs in ways that are appropriate for them. I’m active and enjoy longer walks and jogging with dogs who benefit from and enjoy that level of activity. I am also able to accommodate dogs who benefit from mobility-friendly environments. I would love to chat to discuss all the services I can offer, and I do offer flexible pricing for special circumstances.

Reviews

Took very great care of katara and were very flexible and accommodating! Would definitely take katara there again.
Elise has been a key support to me in teaching my dog to live in a family home as opposed to the university vet med lab where she lived her early life. She is a keen student of the emerging evidence and theories on dog cognition and behaviour, and comes to every animal with a very science-informed and fully force free approach. She has multiple post secondary degrees, and I know her to be a full-on nerd at following the scientific evidence on dogs. I’ve also witnessed her work wonders with foster dogs who arrived anxious, fearful, struggling on leash walks or with other dogs and who made beautiful progress in feeling safer and calmer in the world. She is also just a deeply warm hearted, true dog person.
