Pet care experience

Wags, purrs, and salty tails

My life changed when I started volunteering at a local animal shelter in 2014. A lifelong animal lover, it was not until this experience that I truly found my passion. I received special training to work with dogs considered challenging because of size, strength, fear, or other behaviors. This was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I have been a cat parent for over twenty years and I currently have a dog, two cats, and a ball python. I have fostered cats, dogs, snakes, and rats. Additionally, I have experience caring for rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, and fish. In 2022, I completed a comprehensive dog and cat first aid and CPR course. I have experience with both kittens and puppies. I am comfortable with animals of all ages, sizes, abilities, and dispositions. I would love to use my knowledge, skills, and experience to help care for your beloved pet.

Safety, trust & environment

Because my dog is dog-reactive, I am not in a position to care for your animals in my own home, but I am happy to come to them and care for them in their homes. I will work around feeding, walking, and medication schedules. I will play with your pets and/or sit patiently while they acclimate to my presence. Bottom line: I will adjust my methods to best suit your pet.

Elika is a wonderful pet sitter! She was thoughtful, communicative, noticed details about my cats behavior and health. I felt very confident with them in her care.

I highly recommend Elika. She is a fantastic communicator, flexible, punctual, and so good with our dogs. She even got our 11-year-old cranky chihuahua to trust her, which is so rare. We will continue hiring her for weekly walks.

Schedule

I try not to pack my schedule too tightly so I can devote the time each pet needs. If your baby needs a little extra time, I want the flexibility to provide it.

16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Elika can host up to 5 drop-ins per day
Must knows: allergies, behavior triggers, medical needs. In addition, Please let me know about any special needs your pet may have. Everything from knowing if your dog is leash-reactive to knowing your dog's favorite toy is helpful. Does your dog have a favorite walking route? Are there dogs in the neighborhood that he or she loves or hates? Does your cat have a favorite hiding place? Does your pet know they are about to get medication when they see certain treats come out? No detail is too small! Please note that I will not allow nose-to-nose encounters with other dogs when we are out unless I know your dog is familiar and friendly with the other dog. And I will not walk a dog with a prong collar. If you use a prong collar on your dog, I will still walk them but only with a harness.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
