I was raised to meet the emotional needs of pets in my care, and nurture who they are. My dad trained dogs, and I learned to speak in a way they understand. Because I work from home, I am able to be very attentive. My yard is fully fenced in, and I live with four other responsible adults. A quick story from the pandemic: My parents have a Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix name Jacques. One night when it was just him and me, I noticed it looked like he was straining to eat his crunchy food. He was always picky, but that day I noticed him straining to chew like when we bite into a Gobstopper. I picked him up and drove him to PetSmart. We bought Bil~Jac, the softest, healthiest dog food available for a dog his size. “12 pounds of fresh chicken in a 15 pound bag,” it said. This is not an ad, I swear. I remember the first time he tried his new food. He looked at his bowl, looked at me, looked back at his bowl... then, jumped off the chair where he eats, ran and jumped onto my lap, excitedly licking my whole face! Jacques gained 3 pounds in the next month or so, and he was only 5 pounds before we switched food! I love seeing him healthy and happy. My goal is to treat everyone else’s pets like they are members of my family. Because it isn’t always easy to trust a stranger, I believe that it is more important than ever to be accountable and responsible for anyone under my roof. They all deserve my deepest level of care.
