Adventures with auntie E!

Safe, clean, and loving space! As the granddaughter of a veterinarian, I've grown up around dogs my whole life, and I dog sat for friends back in Alaska before moving to San Diego. I have a 10 month old wirehaired pointer, Charlie, and I've done all of his training myself. Charlie and I live a very active life, with a solid daily routine that keeps us both happy, balanced, and well exercised. I believe the key to a well behaved dog is a fulfilled dog, especially with working and high energy breeds. Charlie gets out several times a day for exercise and mental stimulation, and I'd love to welcome your dog into our routine.

Elena is an excellent dog owner which means she will care for and treat your fur baby as she does her own. For us, that meant thoughtful exercise, feeding and cuddle time for our senior guy. I always knew he was being well taken care of with Elena. I highly recommend!

Schedule

I work from home, so your dog is never left alone for long stretches. I attend graduate classes a couple of days each week, and on those days I come home midday to check in, feed, and give pups a potty break and some play before heading back out. Most days I'm home with Charlie, so your dog gets a consistent routine, plenty of attention, and lots of time outside.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in an apartment within walking distance of grassy areas and fenced dog parks, so potty breaks and short outings are easy. For longer adventures, Charlie and I regularly drive to Fiesta Island or Grape Street Park for off-leash play and exercise. If you and your dog don't go to dog parks- not a problem at all! I have a few areas close to my home that we go for laid back sniff walks. I believe the best boardings start with a meet-and-greet. Before any official booking, I'd love for you, your dog, Charlie, and me to meet so we can make sure the dogs coexist well and respect each other's boundaries. Charlie has great social skills and no signs of reactivity, and he recently shared his home with a senior dog this summer. Protecting his safe space is important to me, because it helps me keep our home a calm, comfortable environment for your pet too. Charlie is high energy and plays best with dogs his size or smaller, so I'm happy to talk through whether we're a good match for your dog. He is currently intact and will be neutered once he reaches the recommended age in a few months.

A typical day

Charlie and I usually get out for two to three walks a day. Our afternoon "big walk" is the highlight: I find a good space for him to run off leash, meet other dogs, and follow his nose. While I work from home during the day, Charlie settles in for naps, so there's a healthy balance of activity and downtime. On weekends, we head out for a bigger adventure and log a few miles together. I make a point of balancing physical exercise with mental stimulation and training, and farmers markets are one of our favorite tools for practicing focus, manners, and calm behavior around crowds, new people, and lots of distractions. This is our program, and if your dog would thrive with this kind of day, I'd love to have them join us!

The more I know about your dog, the better I can make their stay feel comfortable and easy. Please tell me about any special needs, behavioral quirks, or sensitivities, such as medications, fears, or things that help them settle. I'll also ask about your preferences for off-leash time. If you're comfortable with it, I'd start by building a relationship and trust with your dog on leash, getting to know their recall, body language, and personality. Once we have that bond, I'd gradually add off-leash time in safe, appropriate areas. If you'd rather your dog stay on leash, that's completely fine, and we'll still make sure they get plenty of exercise and enrichment. To keep our home a calm, predictable space for Charlie, I'm unable to accommodate dogs with reactivity. He has had only positive experiences with other dogs so far, and I work hard to help him read and respond to other dogs' cues, so protecting that foundation is important to me.
