Safety, trust & environment

It’s important that I am able to maintain your senior pets' quality of life while you are away. What health issues is your pet experiencing at the time of sitting? What medications are they on and how are they administered? Who is their vet? What do they do to relax? What is a typical day for them? Do they like to be brushed? Special treats or toys? How often do they go outside? How long are their walks? How are they with other pets? Are they reactive to other animals? People? If they are nearing end of life, do you have plans in place if your vet is not available?

Information Eleanor P. would like to know about your pet

I would want to know how your dog is with other dogs. Do they intereact with all dogs similiarlly or does size matter? Also, how is your dog with children, elderly people or people with special needs? What about "men in hats"? or other reactions they may have when they interact with other people? I also want to know if your dog uses a gentle leader, special harness or leash. And how do you read them? or how do you encouage appropriate behavior? verbally? treats? A typical day

Routine is important for dogs, but new smells are fun too! As a cyclist and avid walker/hiker, I am becoming familiar with many of the public paths all around Port Townsend. I would start by walking your dog in their own neighborhood and expand from there, if the owner agrees. Your dog would remain on leash at all times and would be actively supervised whenever other dogs are around. If your dog has a favorite dog park or furry friend, I would try to arrange that they could interact if it is safe and appropriate to do so.

Senior Paws - need love too!

Pet care experience

I moved to Port Townsend, WA in May 2025 after living in Davis, CA for 29 years. I loved caring for all the cats and dogs that owners entrusted with me. The spirit of the Davis critters will be with me in WA state. I look forward to getting to know a new set of Port Townsend critters and their families. I have been a pet owner for over 30 years. My family and our vet like to say, “we grow them old” at our house. I have come to love caring for senior dogs and cats. Senior animals remind us to slow down and enjoy the moments. I also love caring for all cats and dogs, but realize that when our “fur family members” become older, it is harder for us to get away or do certain things because of their special needs. I would like to allow you to get away, knowing that your senior will be well loved, cared for, and safe. I can care for younger cats and dogs as well. Maintaining your animal’s routine is important to me. I know that younger pets have different needs and are far more active. I enjoy the younger animals' energy and will help meet their needs, whether by playing with them, walking them or grooming or snuggling with them. I like to have a “meet and greet” with you and your pet(s) before the first sitting at no charge. This allows them to meet me and for me to see how they interact with you and learn about their needs and favorite activities. Additional skills Oral/transdermal medication administration Injected medication administration Subcutaneous fluids administration First aid & CPR certified Senior cat and dog experience Special needs experience (cancer, blindness, deafness…) Special dietary needs experience (kidney disease, liver tumors, cancer, anxiety) Special mobility needs experience (ramps, harnesses…) Daily exercise, stimulation and play

Eleanor took great care of our 2 shy cats. She provided thorough updates to let us know they were in good hands throughout the entire time we were away.
