- Health and medical history: I'd ask that you share information ahead of time about any existing health conditions, allergies, or medications the dog may require. This includes information on any ongoing treatments, dietary restrictions, or special care needs. - Behavioural traits: Understanding the dog's temperament, behaviour, and any specific triggers or fears (especially for rescues) is important for me to be best manage their behaviour and ensure their comfort and safety. This includes information on their sociability with other dogs, people, and animals, as well as any known behavioural issues or training commands they respond to. - Routine and schedule: Any relevant information about the dog's daily routine, including feeding schedule, exercise routine, and any specific habits or preferences, helps in maintaining continuity and minimising stress. - Emergency contact information: As well as your contact details, a secondary/back-up emergency contact nearby such as a friend or relative, in the rare and unlikely case of any unforeseen circumstances or emergencies that may arise. - House rules and instructions: In our meet & greet or call, I'll ask questions to get an understanding of your expectations, house rules, and any specific instructions for caring for the dog, including feeding schedule, exercise guidelines, and any restrictions (eg. rules around jumping up on furniture? etc). This is important for me providing care and a routine that's consistent with what they would have at home, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for the dog. - Veterinary information: Details of your regular vet, in the unlikely case of any medical emergencies or health concerns that may arise while in my care. Gathering this important information ahead of time helps ensure that I am fully prepared to provide the best possible care for the dog, tailored to their individual needs and preferences, and ensures the dog's well-being and safety throughout the dogsitting period. In the morning, I would start by taking the dogs for a brisk walk in the beautiful parks and green spaces that Deptford and Greenwich has to offer, such as Greenwich Park, on Blackheath, or a walk along the Thames Path. After the walk, we would return home where the dogs can relax and rest. I would ensure they have access to clean water throughout the day and spend quality time with them, providing lots of love, attention, and mental stimulation. Throughout the day, I would keep your dog occupied with various fun activities tailored to their individual needs, such as playing fetch, interactive puzzle toys, practicing tricks and other basic obedience training, or providing them with sensory enrichment activities such as sniffing games or hide-and-seek. Please let me know if there’s anything in particular they enjoy! If weather permits, I would take the dogs for an afternoon walk or play with them in our securely fenced courtyard. I would always prioritise the safety and well-being of the dogs in my care, ensuring they are supervised at all times and following any specific instructions provided. At the end of the day, I would ensure the dogs are comfortable and settled for the night, providing them with any necessary bedtime routines or medications as per your instructions.
