Safety, trust & environment

As a responsible and experienced dog and catsitter, I prioritise safety, trust, and creating a positive environment for pets in both my home or a pet owner's home. In my home, I ensure that all areas are safe, secure, and free from any potential hazards. There’s ample space for them to move and play, as well as cozy spots to rest. Cats and dogs alike are welcome to join me for a cuddle on the couch! Regular exercise, mental stimulation, and adherence to any dietary or medical requirements are also part of my care routine. When housesitting and caring for pets in your home, I prioritise maintaining a clean and safe environment for them at all times. I will follow your instructions carefully, respecting your home and belongings and ensure that your pet's routine and schedule are maintained, in order to provide them with familiar surroundings, home comforts and minimise stress. I am attentive to each dog’s individual needs, providing affection, playtime, and companionship to keep them happy and comfortable at all times. Above all, I prioritise establishing trust with both the pet and you the pet-owner, through clear communication, reliability, and a genuine love for animals. I understand the importance of building a bond of trust with the pets in my care and strive to provide the highest level of care and attention, ensuring their well-being and happiness at all times. You will also receive regular updates and plenty of Instagram-worthy photos (I’ve been referred to as London’s answer to The Dogist!) Things I have at home to help relax your dog and provide mental stimulation include slow-feeding mats for both wet food and dry food, as well as some treats, a portable water bowl and a spare collar and lead if required. Please bring with you anything in particular your pet requires for the duration of their stay.

Information Eleanor H. would like to know about your pet

- Health and medical history: I'd ask that you share information ahead of time about any existing health conditions, allergies, or medications the dog may require. This includes information on any ongoing treatments, dietary restrictions, or special care needs. - Behavioural traits: Understanding the dog's temperament, behaviour, and any specific triggers or fears (especially for rescues) is important for me to be best manage their behaviour and ensure their comfort and safety. This includes information on their sociability with other dogs, people, and animals, as well as any known behavioural issues or training commands they respond to. - Routine and schedule: Any relevant information about the dog's daily routine, including feeding schedule, exercise routine, and any specific habits or preferences, helps in maintaining continuity and minimising stress. - Emergency contact information: As well as your contact details, a secondary/back-up emergency contact nearby such as a friend or relative, in the rare and unlikely case of any unforeseen circumstances or emergencies that may arise. - House rules and instructions: In our meet & greet or call, I'll ask questions to get an understanding of your expectations, house rules, and any specific instructions for caring for the dog, including feeding schedule, exercise guidelines, and any restrictions (eg. rules around jumping up on furniture? etc). This is important for me providing care and a routine that's consistent with what they would have at home, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for the dog. - Veterinary information: Details of your regular vet, in the unlikely case of any medical emergencies or health concerns that may arise while in my care. Gathering this important information ahead of time helps ensure that I am fully prepared to provide the best possible care for the dog, tailored to their individual needs and preferences, and ensures the dog's well-being and safety throughout the dogsitting period. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for your interest and I hope to hear from you soon! And of course feel free to drop me a message if you have a question that hasn’t been answered above :)

A typical day

In the morning, I would start by taking the dogs for a brisk walk in the beautiful parks and green spaces that Deptford and Greenwich has to offer, such as Greenwich Park, on Blackheath, or a walk along the Thames Path. After the walk, we would return home where the dogs can relax and rest. I would ensure they have access to clean water throughout the day and spend quality time with them, providing lots of love, attention, and mental stimulation. Throughout the day, I would keep your dog occupied with various fun activities tailored to their individual needs, such as playing fetch, interactive puzzle toys, practicing tricks and other basic obedience training, or providing them with sensory enrichment activities such as sniffing games or hide-and-seek. Please let me know if there’s anything in particular they enjoy! If weather permits, I would take the dogs for an afternoon walk or play with them in our securely fenced courtyard. I would always prioritise the safety and well-being of the dogs in my care, ensuring they are supervised at all times and following any specific instructions provided. At the end of the day, I would ensure the dogs are comfortable and settled for the night, providing them with any necessary bedtime routines or medications as per your instructions. As a dogsitter, I am committed to providing a well-rounded and engaging day for the dogs in my care, catering to their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. I always strive to create a safe, fun, and stimulating environment that ensures they have an enjoyable and memorable experience while in my care. Nothing is more rewarding to me than earning the trust and affections of a new dog, and seeing their excitement when they return!

Pet care experience

As a lifelong dog carer, I have a genuine heartfelt interest in the care and wellbeing of animals - I have volunteered at rescue shelters and been dogsitting for many years so have a wealth of experience with all dogs big and small, from puppies to seniors, reactive dogs and those with disabilities and special needs. I have an excellent understanding of animal behaviour and have been described by many pet owners as a “dog whisperer” – I guarantee your pet will be in excellent hands with me. We can highly recommend Eleanor. She looked after Gravy for us who is an older boy of 14. She was so kind and thoughtful and looked after him beautifully. She kept us updated throughout her stay and sent pictures daily. She left our house so tidy and clean. Big thank you from us all and especially Gravy.

Absolutely the best dog sitter Barfi has ever had. Eleanor handled Barfi’s separation anxiety very well. She managed to make a friendly bond with Barfi in only a few hours. Although I was late for the pick up, Eleanor was very flexible and considerate which I really appreciate her.
