We have a small 3-bedroomed house with a small but lovely, enclosed back garden. We have a grass area outside our front door which is not enclosed. We have Billie, our 5-year old Sprollie (a neutered male) and an older male cat. Both have access to the whole house except we tend to keep the spare bedroom door closed so the animals don't go in there. Billie sleeps downstairs in his bed when all the lights have been put out, and the cat (who comes and goes via a cat flap) sleeps where he likes! Billie always gets walked first thing in the morning before 8.00 a.m. for about 20 minutes and then usually twice more (or once more if we do a long walk on Dartmoor).
