I've lived with critters my whole life. I am used to getting up and taking care of the animals first thing. Walks, food, scratches behind the ears, animals really help me get into my day. I am a freelance writer so I am always able to male sure the animals in my care get what they need first. And the affection I get from impeccable animal care is worth its weight in gold. I love these sweet creatures!

Safety, trust & environment
Besides adhering to all schedules and protocols prescribed by the house, I try to spend as much time in close physical proximity as I can. Cats and dogs are sensitive to routine and consistency and when the people who are usually around are suddenly not, this can be confusuing. "The smells are all different!" I like to set up my writing situation so that there's alway something soft and cuddly within petting range.
Information Edward G. would like to know about your pet
What spooks them. I know dogs that go nuts for sirens and dogs who can sleep through anything. Also, what are the interruptions I'll need to anticipate (Cleaners, other relatives, guests, etc). And who doesn't get along with whom.
A typical day
I like to visit with the animals and their people first so I can see what kind of the things the pets are used to. Mostly, I try to learn what the animals like and then do that.

Pet care experience
Because I am a freelance writer, I can set my day to mimic that of the regular house schedule pretty accurately. I know our pets benefit from consistency and predictability so I try not to vary things too much. I am high sensitive to animals moods and behaviors and I make sure that nobody is going without the love and attention they are used to. Sometimes I think "It's crazy that I get paid to love up on these sweet animals." I grew up in the country with horses, dogs, cats and birds and being the primary caregiver from animals is just part of my nature. I usually develop a lasting relationship with the animals so when I return, they remember me and I get an excited welcome-back display that usually ends up with me having to de-furr my clothes.

Ed took great care of our dogs (and home)! They were happy and smiley and sad to see Ed go. Would definitely recommend anyone work with Ed, we certainly will (wouldn't hear the end of it from the dogs if we didn't 😅)
Ed understands various animal personalities and spends time getting to know them. He goes the extra mile by providing companionship to the pet in addition to meeting their basic needs. Ed has cared for our cat on many occasions and has excelled at making sure the home stayed secure and tidy. He also handled with ease a curve-ball situation where we had a guest dog that needed to stay separated from the cat. I recommend him especially for high-need pets with complex living or feeding arrangements.
I’ve known Ed for almost 7 years now and I couldn’t think of a more perfect pet caretaker! He instantly has a way with animals. His calm and easy nature made him an instant favorite with my dog, Bailey. She’s always so excited when he comes to visit! If I have to travel for work, Ed is my first ask for house/dog sitting . He always gives animals the focused attention they deserve when their people are out of town. He also has experience managing apartment buildings. So, he naturally has a sense for security at my apartment. I always trust that my home and animals are in the best possible hands. I can’t recommend this wonderful person strongly enough!
