I hesitated to write this review because I don't want to cause anyone difficulty but, while my dog and house were taken care of overall, I feel like Ebony was lacking in following the care instructions. She was house-sitting for the weekend for my shih tzu who has some separation anxiety which was communicated in advance. Ebony had communicated that she would arrive at the house around 3:30 on Friday. She did not get to the house until 6:00. No big deal, I hadn't left until 1:30 and, per the care instructions, my pup can be left 4-8 hours. On Saturday after spending the night, she walked my dog in the morning and then left around 7:30 am. I was checking the doorbell cam and when Ebony had not come back to the house by almost 5, I texted to check in. She responded over an hour later that she had lots of other clients that day and she did not expect to be gone so long but that she was on the way. She did not return to the house to take care of my pup until 6:36 pm, 11 hours from when she left that morning and well past the care instructions time of 4-8 hours. I did express this concern with Ebony. My dog was fine and Ebony took good care of her while she was there, I was just frustrated with how long she left her and the lack of communication. I understand that things come up but a busy schedule is not an emergency, it's just not great planning when you have accepted a commitment. Sunday went fine and she walked my dog in the morning before she left and came back around 1 to walk her again, staying within the care instructions. She also took out the garbage, stripped the bed, washed the sheets, and even folded some clothes I had in the dryer before she left which was very nice. So overall just a mixed experience.

My pets were cared for but there was a lack of communication about issues with my pets that weren’t shared while I was away. When I introduced Ebony to my pets, she shared with me that she makes her own schedule and would only be away for a few hours at a time. I provided very detailed instructions for her to help her since my dogs can be a handful. Within my instructions I outlined their eating habits, walks, potty breaks. I also provided information about trash days, since she was staying in my home I didn’t know how much trash she would have from eating out or cooking, etc. and my dogs use potty pads. I let her know that the puppy had had accidents before on the carpets but they were cleaned before her arrival. I also left instructions for what lights to leave on in the house if she left for the evening since my dogs are small and can be anxious when left alone for long periods of time. When I met her I informed her that the house has cameras on the main level and at all entries. I also told her that I would not look in on the main floor cameras until I knew she was gone so that I could watch my dogs. She thanked me for letting her know and said the cameras were not an issue. She was well aware of it before she accepted the job. I get alerts for every time the door opens/closes and could see when she left my house. I asked her if she wouldn’t mind feeding my betta fish every other day and she agreed. I also texted her and asked if she could bring in the mail because I had also forgotten about that and didn’t want the mailbox overflowing. Outside of my detailed instructions for pet care, the only additional requests were for feeding the fish and getting the mail. The first few days she was with my dogs she was mostly home, on the fourth day, she let me know that she would be leaving for a longer amount of time and that she would be home late, after 9:30pm. I explicitly let her know that my pets should not be left alone for more than 4 to 5 hours at max however she left them alone for 6 hours. I had to text her to ask her when she was coming back because she didn’t leave the lamps on, as noted in my instructions so my dogs were in the dark. She arrived around 11:30 PM after leaving at 5 PM. It’s an excessive amount of time for my dogs to have been left on their own. I have a six month old puppy that is not completely housebroken so he needs a lot more attention and needs to go out more frequently. This was noted in the instructions. I let her know this and she still would leave for 5 hours at a time. On Friday she was gone most of the day only coming back to drop in to walk them every 5 hours. Then on Saturday, the day we were scheduled to come home. She let me know that she had a couple of appointments and would be in and out. I let her know that we would be arriving by 6 PM. She never informed me that she would not be home when we arrived. All of our communications were via text. That morning she once again left the dogs alone for 6 hours. I had to text her to ask her where she was and her excuse was that she didn’t realize the time because of her other clients moving around the schedule. She came back to the house to quickly walk the dogs and left again. When we arrived home, she was not there. She did not inform me that she would not be there when we arrived. I texted her our ETA and not one mention of her not being there. After arriving home I found that there were multiple urine accidents on the carpets, including dog feces in my bedroom and on my bed. My dogs have never pooped on my bed before. I can only assume that this was caused by the stress of being left alone for far too long. The worst part, it was dried, so it was old. The smell of urine was so strong. She attempted to cover this up by using a carpet cleaner and capet powder. I expected accidents with the puppy but she never once told me that it was a problem. I could have offered suggestions for how to prevent it and I certainly would have reminded her that they need to go out more often. I also found dog feces that had been picked up, but the area itself was not cleaned up along with dried urine on the laminate floor. Had the dogs been going out frequently and had she been home as I requested there would’ve been minimal to no accidents. My dogs are used to having somebody at home with them 24 hours a day and this was not the case with this sitter because she was in and out throughout the day. She did feed my dogs and they appear to be fine. I expressed my gratitude to her for that but shared with her that I was upset by the state of the house. She was also supposed to feed my fish every other day and when we arrived one appeared sick. No mention previously that he didn’t look well or that there was a concern. He died later that evening. I can only assume that she was negligent in its care and either didn’t feed it or fed it too much. My daughter was incredibly upset to find her pet dead. She never shared with me that the puppy was having multiple accidents in the house and this was causing the other dogs, who are potty pad trained to now also go on the carpets. Prior to leaving I had let her know that I wanted regular communications and pictures and she complied most days with a picture but not all. Never did she let me know she was having issues with the dogs urinating inside the house. She never returned back to my house the day we arrived with my house key. I had to text her to ask her when she would return my key. Her excuse was that she had multiple appointments and they kept her very busy all day. However, that’s unacceptable because I was paying for her time as well to be watching my dogs. She finally arrived the next morning at 7 AM to drop off my house key and left it in my mailbox as I requested her too because I did not want to see her or talk to her. I’m incredibly disappointed by this, especially since she had such great reviews, and when I met her, she seem to understand clearly how important it was for her to be in the home most of the day. She made it sound like her appointments were only a couple of hours and not 5-6 hours daily. I have pictures of the mess the dogs left. I also have the times from my security camera of when she left, and when she returned to verify the extensive amount of time that she was away. The blatant disregard for communication and the disregard to my home is what is disappointing. I could have been understanding or at least expected the issues if she had communicated but all she provided were excuses and blame. Not a single apology or accountability for her actions. I guess it’s the fish’s fault that he is dead too? I will never use her again.

Ebony made sure Ruby had tons of fun while we were away for so long. She took her on lots of walks and her dog and Ruby played a few times as well!
