Information Dylan R. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know the age of your dog and what level of activity is best for them. Do they have any special issues that I need to be aware of?

A typical day

I want to explore the dog-friendly hikes around Boulder with your canine companion! I also like to go for long walks, short jogs, disc-golfing, and playing fetch. If they are good around other dogs I can take them to the dog park to play with other dogs.

Pet care experience

I was raised in Southeast Alaska with a respect and love for all living creatures. I grew up with two large German Shepherds as pets, along with an aquarium of fish, and finches, parakeets, and cockatiels, and two hamsters of my own. In college, I learned the importance of a pet as a companion first-hand through my adventure dog, Chunk. I have been fairly deprived of dog companions of late, and I have become the person who is excited to meet every dog I encounter. Chunk taught me about the struggles rescued dogs have due to often unfortunate histories and the healing affects of positive interactions with dedicated and knowledgeable handlers. I hold both a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in biology, with an emphasis in ecology. I have worked the past four field seasons in wildlife biology. I am continuously intrigued and curious regarding animal physiology and behavior; be that of wild or domesticated animals. Regarding further experience, I have dog-sat for my brother’s rescue dog, a large Husky/Malamute mix, for periods up to four weeks long. He requires significant exercise, and I was able to take him along on my biological fieldwork in Alaska. I very much enjoy hiking with my brother’s dog, as one of the saddest things for me to see is an energetic dog that clearly does not receive the amount of exercise they require and deserve. I have also dog-sat for my parents rescue dog, an aging, small beagle, and I know the patience and care elderly dogs require. Lastly, I have also dog-sat for numerous friends with dogs of various breeds, sizes, and ages, all requiring a good deal of attention. Currently I am living with my sister in White Center and take her German shepherd on walks and to the dog park several times a week. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Dylan was great with the pups. He loved them and they loved him. He let me know when he was stopping by and sent pictures of the happy puppies. Dylan took them on a nice long walk and made sure they were good and tired. I highly recommend, and will ask him to visit again in the near future.

Dylan was great! Our dog was happy and well taken care of while we were gone. Really allowed us to relax and enjoy ourselves on our vacation that was out side of the coutry. Our puppy even learned how to swim while we were away! Would use him again in the future for sure.
