Pet care experience

Playful Affectionate Writer

I’ve been dog sitting for friends and family for over 4 years. I work part time from home and have a lot of flexibility with my schedule o can adapt my routine based on a client’s needs with enough advance notice. I’m naturally very playful and affectionate - I love cuddles! But I’m also conscious that every pet has different needs, likes and boundaries that require patience for me to learn. I enjoy developing relationships with animals over time, and finding effective warm ways to communicate with them. Regular walks, practicing commands, playing games and tons of affection are what my dog sitting tend to entail.

Safety, trust & environment

I aim to establish a deep understanding of the pet’s routines and eating habits, how long they enjoy walking for etc and am happy to help with training if that’s a priority for the client. Taking things slow and building trust over time is my keep approach. I respect a pet’s space and boundaries and read body language very closely.

Dunni is a wonderful dog sitter and I never hesitate to leave my miniature schnauzer, Muji, in her caring and capable hands. Leaving Muji over the extended winter holiday period is always difficult, but Dunni made it so much easier. She took care of Muji like he was her own. Throughout the entire stay, Dunni sent me photo and video updates. Seeing Muji cozy and content, clearly thriving and having the time of his life, meant I could actually be present and enjoy my trip. Dunni has a natural, intuitive way with dogs (even with Muji, who can be a little particular (as schnauzers tend to be!)), and she handled Muji’s quirks with patience, warmth, and genuine love. Dunni made sure to maintain Muji’s routines, keep him active, and shower him with attention and affection. I came home to a very happy dog. If you are looking for someone to care for your dog, I cannot recommend Dunni highly enough.

Leaving Quinton with someone new has always been a bit of a gamble for me. He’s 6, a shelter cat, and not easily impressed by new people—putting it lightly! In the past, I’d come home to a very spicy cat who needed time to readjust. Dunni completely changed that pattern. Not only did Quinton settle in with them quickly, but when I returned, he was calm and grounded in a way I hadn’t seen before after a trip. It felt like he had been genuinely comfortable the whole time, not just tolerating the experience. After four bookings, I trust them completely with Quinton, which is not something I say lightly. It’s rare to find someone who can positively shift your pet’s behavior in such a noticeable way. I told them I’d leave an honest review, but part of me hopes this doesn’t make them too popular because Quinton and I would love to keep them to ourselves!

Meeting Dunni has truly been a godsend. I have a 5 year old cat named Poncho, whom I adopted from a shelter, and she usually takes a while to warm up to new people. That said, she took to Dunni within seconds, which completely amazed me. It’s clear that Dunni has a natural attunement to animals. Also they arrived early to our initial meet and greet, and that level of punctuality has remained consistent every time I’ve worked with them. That reliability is especially important to me since Poncho is a finicky eater and follows a fairly strict feeding schedule. Dunni is also very communicative and adapts quickly when plans need to shift. I’ve now hired them three times, and they’ve become my go to pet sitter for the months (hopefully years!) to come.

Dunni was so sweet and loving to my goldendoodle! He was completely spoiled by her and loves all the attention he gets when he’s in her care.

Schedule

I’m an incoming graduate student studying creative writing. I have a lot of flexibility and can go on walks at various times throughout the day since I work part time from home. I tend to spend my mornings writing so am happy to start my day with a walk as this tends to energize my creativity! After a few hours of writing, I’m available for another walk with your pet! Even as I’m writing, I enjoy petting and showing love to pets and so your pet will get lots of my attention.
