Pet care experience
They’ll feel at home.
I volunteer at my local animal shelter and I am great with both dogs and cats. I grew up with my cat, Hepsiba, born before me who died when I was nearly 20 years of age. We were best friends before I knew what that was. Then at the age of 12 or so, my parents adopted 2 English cocker spaniels, brother and sister. Robbie and Flora. So I was taking care of three pets. Then I raised Bruce, a rescued black lab mix from August 2013 until 2025 with some breaks for the US Army. And I taught him very well; he passed in June 2025 but he will always be my companion at my side. For some time I carried him, 120 lbs, up and down flights of stairs. Sometimes from here to there, carefully, comfortably, gingerly. I’ve taken care of pets for family members and friends. And did so professionally in the past prior to Rover, after friends got me into it. I’m great with animals. After spending even just a short time with them we can often establish a connection or rapport, especially when training a younger pet (or caring for an older dog). I enjoy taking dogs for long walks, I could run with your dog, play with them, but mostly we’ll be doing what they want - within reason.

Duncan was super communicative, and checked in with us each day, to let us know how our girl was doing. Our dog was very relaxed by the time we got home, thanks to receiving loads of attention, and the house was immaculate. Highly recommend Duncan for your pet!

There are no words to describe Duncan’s level of care, love for and understanding of dogs. He took exceptional care of our dog and our house. His communication is superior. A neighbor said that my dog’s tail wagged like a pinwheel the whole time he was here. 100%, I will request he take care of our dog next time we are gone.
This was our 3rd time to have the opportunity of inviting Duncan back to stay with our animals and he continues to surpass all expectations with the care he provides. We couldn't be more thankful that we've found him as our go-to pet sitter and we feel so comfortable when we are away from our two dogs and two cats. We cannot recommend him enough!

Schedule
I will basically be spending the entire time with your pets. We’ll wake up between five to eight in the morning, and we’ll go bed between eight and eleven at night. I’ll be up with them as they need and we’ll be in and out much more than is required.

I am delicate and meticulous and believe in leaving no trace that I was there. I want my client after their time away from home and their animals to not be met with the mess that I could be leaving behind. I am committed to performing an act of cleaning based on the tools available.
A typical day
Some of them loved to be talked to. Some of them sat with. Some want you to dance around the room with them or be chased. And for some of them, going for a walk and smelling things is like exercise and reading a book at the same time. Together with you and your pets, we’ll figure out what they want to do and what’s probably best. I’ve played fetch with more than one cat, and separately two dogs working in tandem, one is a puppy.
