Hi there, my name is Doug and my wife Sarah and I have been Rover hosts since 2017. Prior to this I worked as a dog trainer in the Upper Peninsula preparing sled dogs for the Iditarod. We have two family dogs - Maverick and Charlie. Maverick is a yellow lab who is neutered, and although a food opportunist he has been a great Rover ambassador, welcoming many different dogs over the years into our home. He is usually excited at first with meeting new dogs but settles pretty quickly. He tends to match the energy of the other dog. Charlie is our puppy (born on Easter 2025). He is very smart, friendly and playful! I work from home now and my wife works as a Registered Nurse. Our kids are young but have quickly learned to help welcome Rover dogs and love to care for them just as we do with Maverick. We strive to make your dog as comfortable as possible during their stay. We do request meet and greets for new clients to ensure your dog will be a good fit and also so you can see where they will be staying and ask any questions in person. We only take one client at a time. If you typically crate your dog while you are out of the house, we ask that you bring their crate for their stay. The house we live in does not have a fence so we will have your dog on a leash at all times while outside. Our dogs are on an electric fence with a collar. We have a great neighborhood for daily walks. Feel free to let us know what activity level your dog is used to as our goal is to match it with number or length of walks during their stay.

Doug and his family were great with our dog. We had concerns about how our dog and his would interact but they were unfounded. No problems. We dont go away often but our first choice will be to board with Doug.
Doug is excellent! We couldn’t be happier with leaving our Westy with him and his family. He gave us daily updates and pictures and showed us what fun she was having with all of them I give him 10 stars and will definitely be calling him again. Thank you Doug.

Really nothing to complain about! Very professional and easy to work with. Had a fair rate, and was always on top of responding. As far as the actual service, always gave updates, was very flexible, and very quickly gave me the assurance that my doggo was in safe hands! 🐾 Most importantly - picked up my dog to find him happy and healthy. This was our first time using Rover and it was a great experience. Doug and family took great care of our puppy, even walking her daily! Communication was awesome and we received several messages and pics each day. Highly recommend!
Thank you again to Doug & family! The only down side of vacations are leaving our fur boys but we know how well they are cared for. Thanks for the great communication and keeping us at ease, looking forward to using you again.

Schedule
I work remotely in home M-F and have off on weekends. Your dog is always taken out first thing in the morning. I like to take a walk during my lunch break, as long as the temperature is good your dog will join me. He/She will also get an afternoon bathroom break. Will also go for an evening walk, an hour or so after dinner.

Safety, trust & environment
We crate Maverick when we are away and would ask you bring a crate if your dog does the same. We welcome dogs who roam free and ultimately seek to provide a similar routine and environment to what your dog has at home.

Please bring any toys your dog is interested in so we may engage activity with your dog. We also have toys, treats, and dog bones to share if you should allow.
