I keep an active lifestyle including running, walking, or hiking daily and of course your pups get to come along for the ride. My full-time work is as an attorney. My office is about 10 minutes from home. I generally come home at lunch to attend any dogs I happen to be watching.

My goal is to care for your pups as well as you would yourself. I will follow whatever instructions you provide and keep their routines as normal as possible. This consistency generally minimizes negative effects of your absence on your pets.

Information Doug R. would like to know about your pet
Let me know your dogs habits (including bad habits so I can be prepared), likes, dislikes and anything else to minimize anxiety and put a big doggy grin on your pup’s snout. Most dogs like me right off the bat, but some separation anxiety is normal. Keeping things routine and adding in activities they enjoy helps a lot.
A typical day
At home I like to play fetch or tug of war or whatever your pup is into. If your dog is up for it, I like hiking, running, going to the park, and walking around the neighborhood. For dogs that like to go the distance, I like to take them on hikes in the foothills and even up to the Sandias. I like to take less athletic dogs for a walk around the neighborhood or to some of the Open Space areas in town.

Mature, responsible, professional
Pet care experience
I offer roam free, un-crated boarding (unless you prefer a crate). I’ve cared for dogs, my own and others’, for over 20 years. I currently have no pets of my own, but I would enjoy caring for yours as well as watching your home while you are away.
Reviews

Doug was so easy to work with and accommodating. My dogs had a lovely time with him. Even though one of my girls got sick with tummy troubles a couple of days before the stay, he agreed to still watch all 3. Stellar experience overall

Doug took great care of our anxious dog who needs a quiet and safe space without other dogs around. He keeps us updated daily on how she is doing which is appreciated.

Akira had a great time with Doug! It was very comforting knowing we didn’t need to worry about her while we were away. He was very flexible with our schedule and sent us a picture every day.

Doug saved us when a last minute dog watcher was needed! Came home to a happy puppy!
