Pet care experience

I just have a way with animals....

***PLEASE READ ALL SECTIONS! I HAVE MADE UPDATES AS OF NOVEMBER 26, 2024. *** I have had dogs and other animals all my life, and enjoy being with them. I am psychic and often develop an instant rapport with animals. I have made friends with: dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, a cow, a mule, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, tortoises, turtles, squirrels, raccoons, an iguana and a toad. I look forward to taking great care of your animal friends. Please note that I offer a 2 hour window for scheduled visits with dogs. If you need a more specific time to work with, please let me know - we may be able to make an arrangement that works for your dog as well as the other dogs on my schedule. For scheduled visits with cats, I will arrive during the day we agreed upon. Thanks for trusting me with your pet! ***Due to my experiences during Hurricane Helene and the weeks following, I have decided I need to make some natural disaster policies. I always tell clients at the initial meeting that I will "show up unless I'm dead." That still stands. But in a natural disaster like Helene or something similar, that could look very different from what was planned. If I am unable to drive to your home and I have to walk there could possibly be fewer visits than planned, depending on conditions. If, due to distance or damage to your home, I decide your animal(s) cannot safely remain at home, I reserve the right to bring your animal(s) to my home for care until you are able to return. If this is necessary, I will keep your animal(s) separate from my own or those belongings to others. Cats must have a carrier easily available to me. It may be necessary to transport crated animals secured in the back of a truck or to walk or carry them to my home, depending on the circumstances. I hope Augusta never has another disaster that could make any of this necessary. *** Please look over the following so we can be on the same page about these things. If your pet has a special circumstance that requires something different (time sensitive medications, for example) please let me know and we'll come up with a solution together. For cold weather walks, dogs must have a coat available. For hot weather walks, I offer water during the walk and and have an after walk cool down time of at least 15 minutes. This is important to prevent heat stroke. I have collapsible water dishes that are clean for each dog. **In case of extreme weather, walks beyond potty breaks are at my discretion based on my judgement on heat and/or cold safety. In such a situation, I will still spend the allotted time with your pet and will make sure to provide indoor physical activity.** I do not walk dogs off leash outside of a fenced in yard. Sorry, there are no exceptions. Please leave leashes accessible even if you don't want your dog to be walked - this is in case of emergency. Please leave your dog's usual treats accessible. I also often have my own treats so please let me know if your dog has dietary restrictions. I will always clean up after potty breaks that happen on walks or in your front yard. Scheduled times are within a 2 hour window unless we have discussed and agreed on a different arrangement. If your dog isn't eating and I get concerned, I will offer a McDonald's cheeseburger. (I have only known one dog in my entire life who would turn this down!) Please let me know about any dietary restrictions in advance. Cat drop ins: Unless otherwise arranged, daily visits to cats will be done sometime during the agreed upon day(s) and the 2 hour window will not apply. For a series of visits while you are out of town, I may use the same bag for more than one day when scooping litter. If your cat is not eating and I think there's a reason to be concerned, I will offer tuna or salmon. (Please let me know of any dietary restrictions in advance.) General: If your pet takes medication in pill form, I will offer it the way you normally do. Sometimes there can be resistance with a new person. If that happens, I will crush the pill and mix it in water then give the medicine in a syringe made for liquid medicines. Again, thanks for trusting me with your best friend!

Fantastic service. Was able to accommodate a super short-notice pet sitting request and offered lots of information on how to take care of our sick cat. Highly recommend for anyone's pet sitting needs

Dorothy was fantastic. She took great care of our 4 cats and even brought in a package that was delivered early. This was our first experience with a pet-sitter and we're so relieved it went well. We'll DEFINITELY hire Dorothy again!

We booked Dorothy while we went on vacation. She did 3 drop-in visits and was AMAZING! She was so good with our kitties and they warmed up to her quickly. She followed our instructions and even went above and beyond cleaning their water bowls. We will definitely book with Dorothy again!

Dorothy is great! She has bonded with our 14 year old grumpy cat which is remarkable. We called her at the last minute when we had to take a trip on short notice. She gladly helped us! She is the best!!

Dorothy is an incredible cat sitter. I was nervous to leave my cat Elsa after she has been requiring daily medications but after meeting with Dorothy my mind was put at ease. She's a great communicator and truly cares so much for all the pets in her care. So glad to have found her!

I require a meet and greet for all new clients. I DO NOT accept bookings for "yard dogs," dogs who live on chains, or dogs whose owners believe they have "trained" their dog to only use the bathroom once a day. Shame on you. While I'm happy to care for a wide range of animals, and don't discriminate based on breed or special needs, I appreciate honesty about any behavioral or health issues your pet has. Please be sure to include your current vet information in your profile.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
