I've had pet friends and taken care of pets for most of my life. Growing up we had cats and then dogs. As an adult I have had cats, and a beloved collie/shepherd dog who I loved to take for long walks. One of my cats was quite smart and liked to take walks with me as well. I have recent experience pet sitting and enjoy every minute of it.

Dorothy takes great care with our little farm. This is the 2nd time she has sat at our house, and everyone has become very comfortable with her. She is thorough and attentive to their needs. We are so appreciative of Dorothy!

My pups seem very relaxed with Dorothy
Dorothy watched our 8 year old dog in our home while we were away for the weekend. She was took great care of him. We hope to use her again in the future.
Dorothy stayed with our Labrador Retriever, Koa, for several days while we were out of the country. Everything was great! She was able to spend lots of time at home with Koa, keeping more or less the same routine that Koa has when we’re here. She also sent a few updates with pics. When we arrived back, the house was just as we had left it. Such peace of mind to find someone you trust with your “furry child” and your home! Dorothy’s terrific.

I take care of pets in your home. I'm glad to carefully follow instructions for feeding, walking, and providing any other needed care for your pet.
A typical day
I love to go for long walks and visit or discover nearby parks. On a typical day I would of course feed the dog as per the owner's instructions, and make sure the water bowl stays full. I talk to the dog and learn how he or she likes to communicate. Petting and playing with toys is of course part of our day.

- I want to meet the dog if possible and that helps the first time I walk in the door without the owner there. I need to know something about the dog's usual routines, and whether the dog will need medicine or other special care. Tell me if it's okay for the dog to interact with other dogs when on walks. Also, tell me any particular situations that might make the dog nervous. It's very helpful if the owner has a written list of instructions--or sticky notes will do too.
