My husband and I are home all day. We have 40 acres adjacent to 2000 acres of BLM and the dogs and I go for early morning forest walks followed by grooming sessions every day if their fur collected grass seeds. If you bring us your bird or any other little critter, we will keep it safe and sound in the house, we have a spare room were dogs are not allowed.

Safety, trust & environment
Four acres around the house are fenced to keep the dogs safe while outside by themselves. If it is too warm, cold or wet, the dogs will be inside in the afternoon after the grooming. They are usually ready for a nap after that anyway. In the evening they all come with us to tuck the chickens into their coops, when it is dusk or dark they wear lighted collars. We have lots of cozy places for the dogs to sleep and sit. In winter the den with the fireplace is a favorite spot and in summer the hardwood and stone floors are popular. If you bring us a puppy, we will keep it in a crate overnight in our bedroom. Also we will keep it on a leash during walks or at least have a long rope trailing behind.

Information Dorothea & Richard O. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know: Any special routines (feeding, walking, playtime). Health needs or medications. Favorite toys, games, or comfort items. How they do with other dogs/cats, people, or new environments. Any quirks (like being shy, anxious, or super energetic) so I can make them feel extra comfortable.
A typical day
A typical day starts between 5am and 6am when the dogs are put outside (into our four fenced acres around the house) for their morning stretches. If it is still dark, they will wear lighted collars. At around 7am we are going to see the chickens to let them out of their coops, give them snacks (dogs get some fruit or veggie as well) and clean their little houses. After breakfast we all go into the forest, usually for 2 or 3 hours. When we come back everyone gets groomed and bathed if necessary. After that it is nap time for the dogs, usually on or under the back porch, but if it is hot, wet or cold, they all come inside and get a treat (Liver or Duck). Feeding time is at 5pm. Usually kibbles with bone broth, raw egg, chicken hearts or gizzards and a vegetable and fruit. After a brief after-dinner nap, they are ready to go back outside until the chickens are being tucked in at dusk. After that everyone gets snuggles, a treat and finds their favorite spot for the night. Puppies are put into a crate for the night and get short walks during the night to go pee.

Pet care experience
Hi there! I’m Dorothea and have raised horses, dogs, cats, chickens, song birds and hedgehogs. Animals are my life. We have 40 acres adjacent to 2000 acres of BLM and we go for early morning forest walks followed by a grooming session every day. Four acres around the house are fenced to keep the dogs safe. Our resident pets are two Aussies - Luna and Pixie. We also have chickens inside another fenced-in area. I love taking pictures of our furry friends, so you will get plenty of snap shots and fun “pup-dates” while you’re away. When your pet is with us, they’ll be safe, happy, and treated like family. If they have long hair, they will wear a "Shed Defender" suit to keep the grass seeds out of their fur. Can’t wait to meet your furry or feathered friend!

Reviews

Amazing experience from start to finish. Communication was clear and consistent, and my dog was well cared for and happy when I returned. You can tell they genuinely care; highly recommend and will be booking again!

Olive had a fantastic time with Dorothea! Dorothea provided a safe environment, gave Olive a wonderful walk, and kept me updated (with numerous photos and videos) throughout Olive’s stay. Highly recommend!

As usual Roxie has had a great time. She played so hard in the woods and with Dorothea’s two dogs. Dorothea takes so much care of them. Plenty of videos. How can I tell Roxie had a good time. She is sacked out!

Dorothea and Richard took wonderful care of my elder dog. Their place is great for dogs and their dogs are very friendly. I will be asking them to take care of my dog again.
