This year, much of my work is remote, which gives me real flexibility in my schedule. That means I’m able to spend unrushed, attentive time with pets, not just quick check-ins, but actual companionship, care, and presence. I can shape my day around walks, visits, feeding times, play, and quiet company, depending on what each pet needs. My childhood friend and roommate, Matin, who is included in the pictures, also helps me out with my Rover schedules.

Safety, trust & environment

My home is my cat Lilo’s safe little kingdom, so I can’t host other pets here. But I’m very happy to come to your home, meet outside for walks, or figure out a setup that feels easy and comfortable for you and your pet.

Information Donna P. would like to know about your pet

I like to know the little things that make your pet feel safe and understood: their routine, meals, meds, allergies, fears, leash habits, escape tricks, and how they are with other animals or people. It’s also helpful to know what’s normal for them, and what would be unusual: eating, bathroom habits, energy, anxiety, or anything health-related. I’d rather know too much than miss something important, and I’m always happy to follow your instructions closely.

A typical day

I usually let the pet tell me what kind of day we’re having. Some dogs want a good sniff walk and some playtime; others just want a calm person nearby. Some cats want wand toys and dramatic little games, and some need three business days before they decide I’m acceptable. I’m happy to do the usual good stuff: walks, play, treats if allowed, brushing, cuddles, or quiet company. But I’ll always follow your pet’s routine and personality first.

Your pet’s gentle backup

Pet care experience

Of course I love animals, but what matters more to me is noticing who your pet actually is. Are they the kind of dog who needs to sniff the same corner for five minutes before moving on? Are they a little shy at first and pretending not to care? Do they get excited easily and need someone calm around them? Are they a cat who wants company, but absolutely not too much company? I really enjoy figuring out those little things. I’m gentle, patient, and very respectful of each pet’s routine. I don’t believe in rushing them or treating every animal the same. Some pets need play and attention, some need slow walks and quiet reassurance, and some just need someone kind nearby so the house does not feel empty. My goal is for your pet to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in a way that still feels familiar to them. I’m also very careful with instructions. Feeding routines, medications, walk preferences, favorite toys, things that scare them, how they like to be greeted, whether they are allowed on the couch. I want to know all of it. I know these details are not “extra.” They are usually the things that make a pet feel secure. I’ll also send updates and photos, not just to say everything is fine, but so you can actually feel connected to them while you are away. My childhood friend and roommate, Matin, may also help me sometimes, and you may see her in some of my photos. She has had pets since childhood and fostered animals for several years, so she is very used to different personalities, nervous pets, affectionate pets, and animals who need a little extra patience. She is calm, loving, and very responsible, and I trust her completely with animals. Between the two of us, your pet will be cared for by people who genuinely like being around animals, but who also understand that trust matters. I’ll treat your pet with warmth, patience, and care, and I’ll treat your home and instructions with respect.

Donna and Matin did a great job taking care of my two cats for about two weeks. They kept me updated on my cats` situation while I was on vacation. They gave me no reasons to worry about the well being of my feline friends. Considering one my cats has hepatic issues, they did an amazing job keeping an eye on his symptoms. I am so grateful that I got to leave my cats with them and I will surely do it again on my next vacation.

Donna and Matin are life savers. My cat is scared of people (and everything else), hides for hours when I have people over. Their patience and genuine love for animals made me feel at ease to leave my baby in their care. They not only took care of his needs but also helped socialize him. I almost cried the first time he went up to Matin! They are reliable, responsible, and I can always count on them for when I need to feel someone can watch over my cat the same way I would.

Matin and Donna have both taken care of my dog and cat, and I’ve always felt really comfortable leaving them with either of them. My dog is an American Pit Bull Terrier, so I really appreciate people who are calm and confident, and they were both great with him. Matin also looked after my domestic shorthair cat at a time when he needed medication, and she handled it without any issue, which I really appreciated. It can be stressful leaving pets when one of them needs a little extra care, but I trusted her completely. They are both reliable, kind, and easy to communicate with. I would happily trust them with my pets again.
