Pet care experience

We will give your dog(s) 💕LOVE 💕

🔔 Please fill out your dog’s profile, as it really helps us! We take mostly small or medium breeds, but can take large breeds who are calm indoors and get along well with others. We're committed to providing a safe and peaceful environment for your pet(s)! _______ We're Mike and Dominique, and we've been taking care of dogs for many years now. We’ve had 4 dogs of our own, each growing well into late adulthood and giving us the gift of many years with them. They have all passed now, and we miss them daily. We’ve learned a great deal about various medical ailments in caring for them in their twilight years, namely diabetes. We are also familiar with kidney disease, CHF, CCD (dementia), and hypothyroidism. We are comfortable with wound care, be it ‘hot spots’ or other skin conditions that require dressing changes or other attention. We offer a lot of love and enrichment during your dog’s stay! 🥭 Bonus: If your dog loves mangoes, we are the place to be during mango season!!🥭 💫One or both of us is HOME 🏡 FULL-TIME ☮️ Our goal is to provide the ultimate pet care, and for you to enjoy your time away with peace of mind. Bonus: if you’re new to Rover and end up booking with us, ask for our promo code for $20 off 💵 Se habla Español 🇵🇷 - Mike and Dominique

Dominique was absolutely wonderful! I truly felt she cared about our dog BB and making it not only great for him but peace of mind for us. She sent multiple pictures daily and we texted back and forth. I knew BB was in a home with someone that loves dogs and focused on exceptional care. Her home and yard were spotless and setup for ‘dog fun’! I highly recommend her and I will only use her in the future. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I also appreciate all the special details and attention (I know the girls must have LOVED the turkey!) and the frequent updates and fun pictures! They had a blast! Thank you once again! We look forward to seeing you again soon! Kisses from Lola & Cali❤️❤️

Safety, trust & environment

SAFETY, TRUST, & ENVIRONMENT * We only take 1-3 dogs at a time now, so please can on the calendar early if you can! Outdoor🪴 We have a 6-foot fence around our yard, and attend dogs consistently outdoors. Outings are frequent and limited in time during the hottest parts of the day, and longer in the cool of the morning and evening. Indoor 🏠 Dogs are free-roam and have the run of the main house (hallways and bedrooms have baby gates at their entrances to reduce shedding in those areas, but some of our shy pups love to use the bedrooms as their own personal dens lol). The more social butterflies like to hang out on the couches and common areas. One bedroom is dedicated to small guests, should they desire or require it; it is just off of the main area, and has a taller baby gate. Most small guests here like to hang out with the larger, but some prefer a gate of separation. This gives them the community experience, while having that wall of protection to soothe their worries. Water stations are throughout the house and outside. 🐶 🐶 🐶 🐶 Most of our clients are long-time regulars, knowing each other like family. You can count on your dog’s safety being our top priority. We provide a loving, affectionate home experience. AGGRESSION: We cannot take dogs with ANY history of aggression, excepting the following: If your dog is snappish ONLY at meal times, we’re able to accommodate this by feeding him or her separately. This is a common, reasonable request. The ONLY other exception to our aggression policy is the typical feistiness exhibited by the 'little but mighty' pups who are 10 pounds or less, whose scrappiness is confined to the pluck of their little inherent natures. Common breeds we see like this are Chihuahuas, Yorkies, etc., and we love them all! We have never had any trouble with them, and we protect them with thorough attentiveness. ANXIETY: We cannot take dogs with moderate-severe separation anxiety (to the degree that the anxiety is disruptive or destructive, essentially). If your dog has anxiety but is NOT destructive or inconsolable, we CAN care for him or her! 😃 Essentially, we are a great fit for dogs who are comfortable away from home! Food 🥘 Please bring your dog’s food for his or her stay; this is really all you need. We accommodate most any diets. Dogs are strictly observed during meals and are not given an opportunity to take the food of others (or to quarrel about it). Sleep 🛌 Dogs under 10 pounds are allowed on the bed. All other dogs may have the couch or any other space in the house! We have a few large, very comfortable memory foam dog beds. We wash bedcovers between clients, and replace the memory foam every couple of years when it is worn out. If you have a routine to crate your dog at night, we have crates set up for this and will stick to your routine. TRUST: We believe trust is earned. While as an owner you may initially place a degree of confidence in us by leaving your furry family member in our care, we intend to earn your full trust by keeping your dog safe, cared for, and returned to you in the same (or better, in terms of the growth that comes from enrichment) condition.

A typical day

🐕 EXERCISE: Your dog will get plenty of playtime! We maintain a great lawn in the back and keep the yard very clean. We garden a lot! Visiting dogs spend some time in the early mornings with us in the garden. They really seem to enjoy the different trees. We have no toxic plants. Fetch is a big favorite, and some dogs like water games with the hose. Either way, your dog is likely to go home and sleep 😴 WALKS 🚶‍♀️ We do not do neighbourhood walks any longer. Most of our clients like this, as walks are a prime time for dogs to break free (unforeseen circumstances or strength overcoming the sitter) and be lost. 🥘 MEALS: Breakfast is around 8 am, and Dinner around 5 pm. These times can usually be amended for your dog if you have other needs. Dogs are fed separately and supervised. There is a period of rest after meals to prevent Bloat in susceptible breeds.

🏥 Medical Needs: We can accommodate many medical conditions, provided they are stable. We cannot accept dogs whose conditions are brittle/unstable in that the dog, by our judgment, seems to be at the end of his or her life; a medical facility would be safer in such a time. If your dog has diabetes, we’ll conduct a ‘working’ meet and greet to become familiar with your testing and dosing routines. We can accommodate set dosing or sliding scales, and are familiar with both veterinary and human insulin. 💊 If your dog is on ANY medication, including ‘as needed’ medication, this must be disclosed prior to the acceptance of the booking. We reserve the right to cancel a booking if a dog arrives with undisclosed medications or medical conditions. Final Word ✏️ Please fill out all special instructions in your dog’s profile. We read all of it and ensure we are informed of and prepared for each stay. It is okay to provide written instructions, but please be sure these are provided prior to booking (screenshot is ok, or however you prefer:). We ask this because, at times, an owner will have particular instructions we can’t accommodate, but we’re not informed of these until drop off. A transparent booking is the best kind for you and us ❤️ Dogs don't have to be social, they just need to be able to share space with one another and be at peace. Many of our clients are solitary by nature and love to spend time alone or with people most, but they are also very pleasant around other dogs when present. We value our working relationship with you and your dog(s), and you can count on our transparency and quality care.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
