Patience My Virtue, Animals My Life

Hello, my name is Diego Mauricio…I’m a teacher from Perú who specializes in Early Childhood Development. These last three years I’ve been working remotely from home in the behavioral health field and training teachers in Perú. I was born and raised on a ranch, so my love and passion for all animals has been lifelong. I now live in an eclectic town in the North Bay and have a two-story house with a fenced 2/3 of an acre that’s paw friendly. I have experience with dogs, cats, turtles, rabbits, chickens, monkeys, parrots (birds in general), snakes, hamsters, pigs, horses... the list goes on. I have a weakness for abandoned animals, so as you could imagine our farm was flooded by any strays or injured animal that were found. So, the term “animal lover“ comes both genuinely and genetically I suppose. As for my own four legged family members, I have adopted two stray cats that are outdoors. They have become use to pups visiting and stay away so no worries about that. I also have my two pups that always stay downstairs while pups are visiting. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. When it comes to priorities, I’ve been teased in my past (still to this day) about giving my four-legged family members more comfort than myself. Yes, I’m the type who doesn’t move an inch if they are sleeping beside me. I like to keep things simple (in an organized way) but I also enjoy being challenged by untrusting or emotionally scarred pets that hopefully find comfort by my side and with time give me their trust. I fit well with most personalities, but I’ve found that I’m best with animals with PTSD or anxiety. If they’re hyper we will most likely burn off calories together at the park, or hikes on the weekends. If they’re peaceful (or couch potatoes) they’ll accompany me while I do paperwork, watch me clean, or curl up next to me at night watching a movie. TRUST is the most important part of my bond with your four legged family member. Overall you must feel comfortable and at ease before you leave them with me, which will no doubt take time. I put myself in your place and try my best to offer your pet a safe and loving place. Should you ever have any questions, concerns, or doubts please reach out and find you’ll have my transparency always. 🐾 If your four legged family member has particular rules make sure you let me know so they have persistence. 🐾 I do thank you for having their current vaccination records in hand, since I do offer a no-risk home for my tail wagging visitors. 🙏 I do thank you for helping me keep it that way. 🐾 For pets outside the North Bay Area, I have no problem picking up and dropping off in the East Bay Area. I go to Concord once or twice a month.

. Diego was truly a blessing. His kindness, gentleness, and genuine care for Hemi were evident from the start. Hemi returned to us happy, well-cared-for, and clearly comfortable. We would absolutely use Diego’s services again in the future and highly recommend him to anyone in need of a reliable and compassionate dog sitter..more pleased. Diego was truly a blessing. Schedule

I work remotely and have the best schedule to give your pet my undivided attention. At most I leave the house once a day for groceries, an hour or two max. If your pet has separation anxiety, I would do the possible arranging so that I don’t need to leave the house while they visit. Just let me know so I can make it the best visit.

Where your pet will stay

Home characteristics

Lives in a house
Has a fenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has no pets
No children present
Dogs allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 0-2 hours

Safety, trust & environment

I am very detail oriented and always try and observe your pets needs and always have their best care in mind. For the more hyper dogs, I would probably find more spots during the day to take them out on walks to release all that extra energy. This would really vary with each individual pup.

A typical day

(DOGS) • Outings and walks around parks or great hikes around the area. Fetch, or play with toys. (CATS) • Feather play, accompanied lazy lounging, analyzing people walking by outside.

Diego Mauricio can host up to 4 pets per night
•Past experiences with sitters (both positive and negative), •How they do on/off leash. •How are they with dogs/cats •Overall health issues and vet number and address for an emergency. I would prefer to have their current vet check and shot records printed out, if not you can send them to me and I’ll print them out. Allergies? •If they have any triggers that upset them. •If they get carsick, and how they react to riding in the car. •Have they had any trainings you’d wish for me to follow for consistency. •If they have ever had any food aggression. •If they were adopted, I’d like to know what past history is known and if they have experienced any trauma. •How they react or adjust to being left alone for short periods of time. I work from home, but depending on dates their visit is on, I might have short outings. •Any special habits they are use to at home.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
