Will kennel only if in room with you. He has separation anxiety. Not destructive, he just screams if he feels abandoned. Otherwise he just goes lays down and you wont know hes there. Neither dogs "play" with other animals. In their search and rescue experiences they have been trained to ignore all other animals and focus on the work. He will not get into anything, he will not raid trash or counters. He can be left, in the house, but if he's in a kennel, he thinks he's in long term storage and abandoned. If you are gone and he's in a kennel, he screams, which is ok, because you are gone, but highly recommend if quietness is important that he be allowed to be in the house with you , in a room, bathroom is fine, or the house when you leave. Being in a kennel without people he can see is NOT ok with him. He has attacks of bringing slippers, mail, newspapers, or any eye glass screw you may drop in a carpet. He finds sharp things, and knows the more dangerous and small, the more likely I am to trade a treat to take it from him. (He will give it to you, just stick out your hand, but he's expecting a treat in return) So if he comes up to you and sits down and stares at you meaningfully, it means he found something he thinks he should not have. If he has a toy and he hands it to you. He's asking you to put it up and save it for him, because the house rule, is, if you left it, it's free property. If he hands it to you, he is letting you know that it is NOT free property, BOB has the bob tail. Tuck has the Tail

About Bob

former search and rescue dog (retired because of my bad knees) partially deaf after staying with my deaf dad with alzheimers, They had to stay there, because they were called on daily to go find my meandering dad. They were subjected to loud music and both dogs went deaf. They hear if you talk in lower tones, but if you scream, they have lost that hearing range. They respond to hand signals and watch for them. reliable off lead.

Has been trained to ignore all animals so animals are not a distraction to him while working. He will not play with other animals. He WILL play basketball (with Tuck) or any other dog that wants to join in the game. he will bring in animals, crickets, etc and "study them" he wont intentionally hurt them, but he might mother them to death. When he comes in, check and see if he's carrying anything. He's been known to bring in baby rabbits, baby birds, etc, and you have to ask him to spit them out so you can return to nest, and tell him that he is NOT their mother. A very gentle, but more timid soul. Very quiet in the house, you will not know he's there, but he does love to bring you socks and underwear. (expects treats for the find) BOB has the bob tail. Tuck has the Tail
